As with all Run North West (RNW) events, this was impeccably organised. The course is a very fast, and mostly flat, 10K on roads - many of which had previously been in poor condition but have been recently repaired. While possibly not the quickest of RNW's courses (all of which are very quick), the field that is assembled for this race really is fantastic, and gives everyone a chance to run with, and mingle with a large number of Elite and sub-Elite athletes. RNW's pacer provision is unrivalled, with pacers as quick as 35 mins, and a pacer at every 2:30 interval. There have been a few course tweaks in recent years - all of which are positive.

I'll start with the main gripe as this is the only negative bit - the parking is shocking!  The event HQ is next to a small housing estate and the roads are narrow so access to the 2 car parks is fairly difficult as the roads get busy.  We arrived 2 hours early and the car parks were already full so we were directed to park on the road, which is difficult as residents (understandably) take up most spaces.  Not the best start to the day!

However, once we were there, the event HQ is well set up.  Plenty of portaloos, a high-tech number collection, well-organised bag drop and well-marked start area (they hid the coffee facilities behind a small building though!).   All the event staff/volunteers were very friendly and helpful.

The event has pacers across a wide range.  There was a big elite entry, so good for star spotting  ;)

The course is described as flat and fast but it isn't completely 'pancake flat' as some are.  There are various ups and downs throughout - though these are mainly over bridges so short inclines followed by similar declines.  The route goes on minor roads through some beautiful countryside.   Lots of locals at various points out to clap and encourage.

Definitely a PB potential course.

The event organisers are taking steps to be more eco-friendly and if you bring your own bottle they will fill it with water and you can collect it at the end of the run from the designated spot.

Really good atmosphere at this event - I would very much recommend it!

Described as a flat PB potential course which I agree with, there are a couple of small inclines over bridges but they are not very steep. There was heavy rain the previous week but most of the flooding had gone, there was just one section you had to run through but unfortunately that was part of the course you have to run through on the way back as well. Water was provided at the half way point.

Great medal at the end, protein bar or flapjack and a bottle of water.

This would be a good PB course as its very flat. Great facilities including huge sports hall and, given the weather conditions, that turned out to be essential. Make sure you preorder your medal or T-shirt as there seemed to be a little confusion over this afterwards in the pick up area with runners then wishing to buy one. Think its only fair to organisers to collect one if you’ve paid up front or make the race one cost and everything is included. Run North West always deliver on medal quality though as its beautiful bling! Great car parking direction, marshalling, race direction, helpfulness at HQ and safety. The ambulance was needed by a fellow runner and it turned up safely and navigated the course respectfully at the same time. Roads were closed on the whole course. Biggest kudos was for the ipad registration and number pickup system... that ran like clockwork so very impressive and I didn’t really queue to speak of. Also great community touch to ask for the Foodbank donations - Facebook post the following day confirmed the donation and lots of after race info for photos and results too. I enjoyed this race even though the weather conditions were pretty tough.

Parking was quick and easy as was picking up my number. Not enough toilets available on the day, i'm sure the budget could stretch to a dozen portaloos outside. The start was too crowded with people lining up on the grass and then just pushing in when we started. On the pot hole lined first section this made things risky and slow going.
