If you are an older athlete don't even bother with this event. I was entered into the wrong age category and despite taking to the timing team on the day, emailing them the following day and emailing Tonbridge tri, I have had no response at all. Had I been alloctaed the correct age category I would have been the winner. This is on top of a previous year where I came first in my age category, albeit I was the only one and I was told 'sorry there is no prize for you'! This is terrible way to treat older athletes who are participating in such an inclusive sport.
Oh and your signposting was not good as several people took the wrong route!

If you arrive by car, note that parking is a good walk from the actual location so take that into account and take everything with you straight from the car. I arrived 1hr before swim start and that is tight given various locations scattered around this beautiful ground (registration, transition and pool). The swim consists of an 800m pool swim in 25m pool. With a maximum of 3 ppl per lane and no tumble turn a great set up. It also means no mass start so great for less confident swimmers. You never quite know when you start exactly (depends on ppl completing and vacating the lane). Overall this is the best marshalled event ive seen in my decade of UK tri races. Swim is no different with dedicated marshalls assisting with counting laps.
There is a run up to transition. Standard consists of 2 laps through the countryside with 2 climbs per lap. There is one steep descents but that road was closed for oncoming traffic. Again bike route is very very well marshalled, signs + marshalls at each turn and at extra at the steep descent. I was one of the first waves (7am) and cycles on my own with no bikes or cars for 95% of the race. No feeding stations, so take your own.
Upon returning to the venue a traffic queue had developed as marshalls are trying to keep roads clear for athletes leaving t1, this did mean arriving in t2 required navigating past cars and the dismount line is almost immediately after the turn, so bear that in mind.
Run is 4 laps across uneven grass field. If it has been raining i expect trail shoes might be a good option. Again a marshall at each turn to direct. There was a tent with only water (from what i can tell) but not handed out so i saw people had do stop to drink. Bin was almost immediately after drink table as well so you pick up a cup running would have to hold that cup for 2.5km i imagine (no littering). Race finishes on the track.
I had a warm shower, an unexpected luxury. There was also a burger van and coffee options (outside and inside).
Fantastic early season triathlon to get back into the mindset of racing, altought it can still be cold (bike had feels like temp of 3 but that was unseasonal i guess).
