Super local race which coincides with the carnival - the finish line is in the park with the carnival and so a great atmosphere at the end of the race. The route is on closed roads and hilly with stunning views towards the Malvern hills. The race has a very friendly atmosphere and lots of local clubs are out in force. The medal is nice and there is a specially brewed timberhonger beer for each finisher.

My 2nd time running this event and it won't be the last.
As it is part of the Bromsgrove carnival there is lots of local support especially at the finish line.
Registration was quick and simple. The start of the race is on the road which is of course closed. The route itself is lovely. Looped in one section which you go around twice before you take on the famous hill which is a (insert your own swear word here). What a hill it is - once you eventually get to the top it is pretty much all downhill for the last 1.5k.
Marked out well however when it came to entering the loop for the 2nd time, it was not overly clear if you needed to be on the left or the right. The sign pointing to the right was covered by the marshalls. The marshalls were on the ball though and we were directed on which way to go.
Once we got through the finish, we were presented with our fab medals and pointed in the direct of water and beer. Ys that's right beer! What more can you want?!
I would highly recomment this race to anyone who likes a bit of a challenging hill.

This was my fourth run of the famous Timberhonger 10K, not my third as I thought and although on the start line there were some nervous first timers chatting away, it was clear that many were returning yet again.
The course has a reputation for "that hill". And let's be honest it's pretty hard to miss. Start running, turn right, run under the M5 and there is stretches in front of you with a few twists and turns as you head to the top. Run down the other side and after that the race is pretty plain sailing. A couple of 2.5kn square loops (is that possible?) around the farms and fields, with a couple of very efficient water stations - much needed for many on a baking 26c Saturday evening and you're almost finished!
And then there's the rememberance that for every down there's an up. You ran down the hill, now it's time to run back up it. By now the heat is taking it's toll and even a few decent runners are stopping for a moment or to walk as local farm owners hand out much needed water. Once at the crest it's plain sailing under the M5 and across the field to the finish line and the Carnival.
This is incredibly well organised, the finish funnel moves you through with yet another bottle of water, your medal and your prize of a bottle of beer or cider or lager. You choose.
And despite the number of runners who say 'never again', I bet that they'll be back next year.

As part of a carnival this run ends coming back towards the carnival where you are cheered on by loads of locals.
The route is looped in one part and has a nice hill towards the end. This was one of my first 10k races and I really enjoyed it.
Would look to do it again in the future.
