I initially thought wow it's a long way to go and race at Thorpe Park, but actually was very easy to get to.
We did a bike course recce, but due to the rest being in the park we couldn't get an idea of the run route or see where we were swimming. When you've not raced it before just helps settle pre race nerves.
other than that I thought it was a pretty good race and I would definitely do it again next time.

Enjoyable race. When I entered it, I didn't fully appreaciate that the run was all within Thorpe Park, so that was quite cool.
Pre-race comms were clear and regular, which helped. Registration was a breeze(and indoors) on the morning.
Swim in the lake was fine, just got a bit silty and smelly right at the exit. Short jog to transtition on grass.
Bike initially through the service road which is twisty with caution needed. Then out onto main A roads for a single loop with two out and back sections. Flat and fast with only lump being over the motorway
Back via servcie road to the run which is again flat and round the Park for 2 laps. One dead turn, but a fast course
post race food etc was again indoors, which is great with the lovely British weather.
Slick operation IMHO

Really nice to find a good race that's on my door-step!! Great crowd, with familiar faces which is always nice. Well organised, not silly money, and manageable wave sizes. If I stick with sprint distance next year I would definitely do it again *thumbs up*

This is my second time competing at the Thorpe Triathlon after completing the race in July 2014.
The venue is great and the lake is one of the best I've had the pleasure of swimming in. The bike course is fast and mainly flat and the trail run around the lake is challenging under foot at times, but still an enjoyable route.
This race series is still very much in its infancy, but is improving with every race. It is perfect for the novice triathlete, but also great for the more experienced racer looking for a fast course.
Rebecca Kingshott and her team are fantastic. The race has such a friendly, family feel about it and I can see a great future for this event.
My only suggestions for improvements would be transition and more toilets. The current transition is a bit tight and the racking a little flimsy. The other area of improvement is toilets. As the race grows in size, I feel a couple of extra Portaloos would not go a miss.
Anyway, keep up the good work team and I hope to be back in August.
