This year was my sixth go at the Royal Wootton Bassett Sprint Triathlon having completed all of the previous events from the inaugural 2014 event.

The race lived up to it's friendly, sell out local tri reputation. The course is well marked with enough aid stations and the marshal team were all super friendly and encouraging.

A special note must go to the presence of the Mayor of Royal Wootton Bassett handing out the (rather superb) medals at the finish line. This really adds something special to the event given the rich history of the town.

Finally, a massive thanks must go to the organisers of the event for accommodating me this year. I fractured my femur in a training accident earlier in the year and they gladly assisted me in a change to the relay event where I walked the 5K run course so that I could continue my complete run of the event. The support and belief that the organisers showed when I contacted them in helping me get to the event really was a great boost and focus for my recovery and rehabilitation from the injury.

I really look forward to the Royal Wootton Bassett Triathlon each season.

The charity event is well run and aims to raise funds for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

The pool based swim leads into a scenic bike course with a couple of small rolling segments that leads back through the historic town or Royal Wootton Bassett. The run course is a flat loop out to and round a local rugby field.

The feel of the event is great as it's mainly aimed at enjoyment and raising funds for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance. The mayor of Royal Wootton Bassett also attends and hands out the finisher medals adding a real sparkle that I haven't seen at any other races.

The Royal Wootton Bassett triathlon is a great example of a friendly local triathlon. The area is well worth a visit with the historic market town of Royal Wootton Bassett having a charm beyond it's small size. The event also has a little extra shine provided by the attendance of the local mayor. The goodybag stands out too.

What can I say. This race has become a staple for me and is a favourite local event. The ASE events habe become duck I have been trying to break as I have always had an issue. From blowouts to the crashing the bike I have still mamaged to finish and know once I get a day with no issue I will be flying and in a really good place. 

Perfect from novices to experenced athletes this should be on everyones calanders
