Registration: Book online and then number and timing chip is collected on the evening, a simple hassle free process. Kids can register on the night for a free 1k run with medal.
Parking: This was supposed to be at the start venue, but due to another event we were directed to a local free car park, less than 5 min walk so no hassle.
Course: The course is great (If you like this type of thing) the first mile is a climb, then it undulates up and down over rocky trails and moorland, finishing with a descent into the finish line, loved it.
Feed Station: There are no stations on the Course, if you think you will require water/gels etc then bring them along with you.
Marshals: Special mention to these guys, they are all so polite and without them events like this could not take place, I always thank them as I run by.
Medal & T-shirt: These were new for this year and I loved them, great quality.
Overall I would recommend this to any trail runner, or anyone wanting to try it out, it's a fabulous event.

The race starts straight into a hill that goes on for about a mile. As mentioned the terrain is rocky and very uneven making it challenging as you try a navigate the best route up the Pike. During this first stint, you are fairly well covered from either side with trees. A short dip down and then back into another hill with an added stream to work around. The route becomes more exposed and luckily this year the weather was pretty perfect (few clouds and no rain). The course undulates around the top and takes in a variety of ground including a small road stretch, fell (with added snow), a tricky downhill, slippy muddy section..........and of course more of that rocky surface. The final mile or so is a quick downhill back ot the start.
Like the other Nightrunner events I have done, it has a nice friendly atmosphere around it. It always a nice challenge to run at night time and this certainly added to the attraction for me. Well organised number collection and there was plenty of parking on the road or in nearby car parks (free of charge).
My only gripe was that they did not have the post race food vans as advertised (contacted organisers and they mentioned they had been let down last minute and was too late to organise an alternative).
Nice, bespoke T-shirt. Medal is basic (I can take or leave having a medal, but I know it is important for some).
One of the toughest 10k's I have done and despite it being uncomfortable in some sections, I can see this being an event I sign up again for.

This was a really good event, parking at the school on arrival was easy, registration was simple, I even registered my 5 year old son for the trail kidz 1km run for free.
The course starts at The school and goes right up to Winter hill so a fair climb involved, but I really enjoyed the route. It was a dry clear night so the views from the top were really good.
The marshals were really good, thanks to them for being there so races like this can go ahead.
Overall this was a very enjoyable event, good value for money and I'll certainly be back next year.

sets off from the school in rivington and goes all the way up to winter hill, so there is a lot of climbing, but being in the dark doesn't seem so bad, it was a clear night when I ran so the views from the top were unreal, the marshalls were good and very supportive, a really enjoyable race to do on a freezing cold Saturday night in jan defo back next year

Chose to do this race as the final 10k of my '10k a month for 10 month' challenge and it happened to coincide with my birthday weekend! It was a great event to celebrate with! Tough but so much fun! As you approached the summit and the moon appeared like a sunrise, it was stunning and everyone was talking about it at the finish! Huge thanks to the Marshals and organisers!

Happy birthday Nicola. Glad you had a great race.
Thought the run was well organised, friendliest Marshalls and we'll planned/marked. Was worried before hand about being lost or last but was neither! Tough first mile all uphill on rough terrain but wanted a challenge! Only query was it was listed as a 10k but our trackers both said 7 miles!

It is 6.5 miles (a squidge over 10k) but it all depends on what route you take, especially over the moors when people don't take the direct line up and down to avoid the ruts, mud and water.
Once again an awesome nigh running around Rivington. Epic Events are always well structured with clear briefing, race signs along the route and a good amount of supportive marshalling.
This is a great event for those who enjoy a tough trail run and enjoy running with a headtorch.
This route is hilly and challenging underfoot, using some iconic Rivington segments.

Thank you for the lovely comments. We are glad you had a great race.
This was a very tough race in the snow and ice. Probably the toughest 10k race I've done that isn't an OCR.
Marshalls were great and there was a nice friendly feel.to the event. The route is a touch over 10k and the mile uphill at the start can really take it out of your.
Great training if you are training for longer distances.

This was my second Epic Events race but my first at Rivington. Having walked around Rivington most weekends I knew the terrain would be a challenge but the added snow, ice and freezing conditions made it extremely tough race! A fantastic route with plenty of hills to keep you warm and plenty of running down hill to scrape back those minutes lost. Another excellently organised race and one I would definitely recommend to everyone!
