Having taken up cycling a few years ago to ride the London to Brighton to celebrate my 70th birthday, at 72 this was my first UKCE ride. I was worried that I would be too old and slow for such an event. I shouldn't have worried as, on arrival, I could see that it catered for all ages and skill levels.
It was a lovely route but towards the end I was struggling a bit, but a cheery word from the marshals spured me on.
The whole event was really well organised, especially the signage.
On arrival at the finish I was greeted like I had won the race, and in a way I had. A medal, an energy bar and a can of delicious Butcombe beer were gratefully recieved.
Thank you.
