The pre-race information was comprehensive and helpful in planning my attendance at the event. On arrival I was greeted by a very friendly and cheerful marshal who directed me to the car park where I was able to leave my car. There was plenty of space in which to warm up, and regular tannoy announcements advising runners about the time to the start of the race. Registration was quick and easy, where a timing chip issued. Competitors were given a short but pertinent briefing and lined up in an orderly manner for the race, with fastest runners at the front and the slowest at the back. With chipped timing it didn’t matter if it took several seconds to cross the start line, as your time began from when you did so. The course was well surfaced as it uses the motor racing track for much of its length, and there is plenty of room for all runners. The atmosphere is brilliant and very inclusive: there were all ages competing from young children running with their parents to senior citizens like me (the children seemed to be having the most fun!). At the end there was a well stocked table of treats, where you could help yourself to sweets and snacks, and volunteers handing out water. The results come through straight away, and race photos are available shortly afterwards. Like all DB Max events, these one mile races are a great experience, so effectively organised and enjoyable to participate in.
