First time on a Pennine Trails event and I have to say it was a cracker. Leighton Hall and it’s surrounds is the most perfect place for a trail event : Lots of free parking. Quick and easy registration. A tea room for refreshments. Lovely clean toilets. A humorous and low key race briefing and then onto the course ! The best marshals of any race I’ve done. Really well marked out course with flags. It had rained solid for a week before the race, so I was expecting it to be muddy, but the last five miles , oh my !!! A real mix of terrain, with a few sections on the road and the first 8/9 miles best described as undulating, but then I hit the last five miles and everything changed 😂 It seemed to me as though it was all uphill from then on and this coupled with the ankle deep mud, made this section one hell of a slog. When I crested the top of the last hill and I could see the finish line, I could’ve jumped for joy ( if I’d had the energy left ! ) All in all a super event, fantastically well organised and friendly. I’d like to do it again when it was dry 😂 11/10 from me.

I have run a number of the Penine Trails events and I have to say this stands as a favourite, it's quite a tough course if you don't know what to expect (and like me you didn't check the gpx for the hill profile). Well worth it though, the scenery was spectacular, and the locals were very supportive along the way. I'd happily enter this again next year, perhaps with a little more preparation so my soul doesn't leave me behind on the course!

Fantastic race and stunning route! My second time doing the course and it just gets better! Goody bag is fantastic and I love the race medals. Everybody is super friendly and all the Marshalls are very helpful and encouraging. Will be back next year!
