This event didn’t disappoint. It was enough of a challenge to feel like a challenge without feeling in real dander in the dark and conditions. I was on my own, and travelled from 1hr 45m away so knew no one or the area as quite new in the SW. I picked it as looked from the site and communications that I would be fine and have help if I needed it. The event was well run and resourced. Very helpful people on hand, great parking and facilities. I will defiantly do more events in the series and return to this next time and try for an improved result knowing what to expect. Thank you.

My daughter and I decided to try this night run after enjoying the Haldon Forest event for the last two years - it's great to see night-time trail events for children! The atmosphere at Dartington was lively and the venue was lovely. The cafe/restaurant (with fires lit!) was particularly nice to return to after running in the dark and cold. The course wasn't as varied as Haldon and I felt it could have made better use of the trails at the Estate. That said, it was well-marked, muddy and fun. We did feel let down at the end, however - the awards for children were rushed (presumably to make time for the adult races to begin) and more care/sensitivity was needed. My daughter enjoyed running and felt proud of her accomplishment - but she left feeling disappointed. In the future we would love to see a more holistic approach to celebrating the children's achievements/finish, with more time and care taken.

We're sorry to hear this Katie. We've replied to you privately and are also sending a special medal out for your daughter. We make a lot of effort with our kids races with proper timing, race numbers, special medals etc. Within the limits of a 1K lap it is hard to add additional terrain to the kids lap at Dartington particularly as we need to keep them away from all vehicle movements but we'll have a think for next year.

Enjoyed the race, great course, even more fun in the dark and super muddy. Most of the course was well marked, I did run a bit extra because the 2 runners in front of me missed a sign and it wasn’t obvious enough to get me back on track. Lots of the course followed single file...

Enjoyed the race, great course, even more fun in the dark and super muddy. Most of the course was well marked, I did run a bit extra because the 2 runners in front of me missed a sign and it wasn’t obvious enough to get me back on track. Lots of the course followed single file tracks but there were many opportunities to overtake. All the event Marshall’s were encouraging and helpful. Loved it!

Dark dart dash. One comment. I actually enjoyed this element but I was surprised by some obstacles on route especially the completely blocked path by big load of brash. Path around not signed. As a local I knew it and enjoyed it but bit tricky for others perhaps.

Glad you enjoyed it. Yes we were a bit surprised by some of the extra obstacles the recent forestry work has caused. Hopefully most of it will be cleared by next year.

Well organised. Great setting in and around the Green Table Cafe which was warm and inviting for both competitors and supporters. Good race atmosphere….just a shame their weren’t a few more competitors. Friendly marshals. Lovely muddy and wet course with a nice few climbs and descents and forest trails to provide a challenging but achievable course for all. Great fun!
