The Brutal. This event will break you into a million pieces before building you back stronger than you thought possible. Cold swim. Ok. Four laps on a hill that goes in forever. Tough. Three laps of a lake needs 90% of your willpower. Now, when you're physically and mentally done, get up and down Snowdon, probably in the dark. The route is nothing short of spectacular. The organisation is incredible. The pride in crossing th line immeasurable. Sign up, dig deep. Get it done.

this was the hardest iron distance race that I have done and will ever do, the location truly unforgettable , the course was very challenging( it lived up to its name) the support was amazing, along with the marshals. If your into iron distance races then do it as it will beat all the others for how challenging it is.

The clue is in the name "Brutal" This is a tough course in a tough environment and you need to be self sufficient with an awesome support crew! I have written a full report here! http://www.triblogs.com/blog/Ironjedi/?id=3284 ...

This event was my first ever Triathlon.

Set in the beautiful Snowdownia National Park in North Wales, the lapped course was testin at the very least, but the natural beauty of this part of the world helped me through.

The lake we swam in was clear, clean, and with mountains surrounding made for an enjoyable to swim.

There was also a 70.3 and full Iron distance race going on at the same time, which helped with the atmosphere.

8 laps of the lake, followed by 8 laps of a hilly bike course which had over 5000m of climbing was stunning, but brutal as well.

The run started with heading straight up Mt Snowdon before 8 laps around the lake we swam in earlier that day (or day before). 3000m of climbing...

Base camp, or transition was a basic tent, with secruity for your bike, and with basic needs. Its basically a self supported event  (i had a crew)

Communication with race organiser before event was clear, and simple, Claire is lovely, and very helpful.

If you want a challenge, in a beautiful location, check out The Double Brutal Extreme Triathlon; it was a lot of fun.
