The Thame 10k road race is one of my favourite events locally.

There was a limit of 1000 entrants, minimum age of 15, cost of entry £16 affiliated, £18 unaffiliated in advance. Venue facilities were listed as; parking in town-centre car parks, changing facilities (including showers), chip timing.

The course profile is pretty much flat and doesn't have many twist or turns. Therefore, there is a real chance for a personal best at this race. 

It’s a very well organised race which sells out each year, good local support, great marshals, good refreshment stops, a technical t-shirt and medal at the end – what more do you want.

This was my second time at this race. It’s a brilliant event which sells out each year with a total of 1000 runners. The race starts off on the leisure centre field, and then its on the road with road closures toward the high street. The route then takes you towards the village of Towersey where you reach the Phoenix Trail. This is a tarmac path that takes you back towards the finish. Support came from residents at various parts of the course, which made the run enjoyable. At the end of the race, you receive a bottle of water, a T-shirt and a medal. This year the medal was a bespoke design, better than the off peg one in the previous year. The race is chip timed, flat, fast with a PB potential. I would definitely do it again.

Well organised race with a medal and great t-shirt at the end, course is definitely PB potential some downhill near the start then onto the flat with some small inclines back up to the finish, you have to park in the nearby town which is about a ten minute walk from the start, registration was easy collect number on the day, had bag drop as well, didn’t see many toilets but I didn’t have to use them so wasn’t looking too hard, great race will definitely go back 

This was my first 10k race. I chose this race due to the flat nature of the course. The race HQ and start are located at the back of the town leisure center.   You were advised to park in the town and walk to the the venue as the leisure center parking was limited.  Collecting the bib number was straight forward. There was also a cafe where you could grab a snack or drink. Toilets were available......

The route of the race takes you through the town center before reaching the Phoenix Trail an old........ at the halfway mark where the water stop is. This is basically the turnaround point, and you head back towards the start where the finish is located.   The local support was friendly and encouraging, so were the marshals.  That day was really hot, water-soaked wet sponges were at ready. Some residents had their hosepipes out, giving you a gentle spray as you went past, this was very welcome.

Once finished you received a technical t-shirt (green), as well as a medal and drink. The medal was fairly basic off the peg type of, not a bespoke made one.  The race was chipped timed, after receiving your goodies, you could queue to check your official time or wait for the results to be published on the web. 

 I enjoyed this race and will definitely do it again as it was well organised and enjoyable flat run organised by Thame’s local running club.

3rd year in a row for this one - lovely flat 10k which goes through town and out along the Phoenix Trail.  There is a nice downhill incline for the first k too!

Local race, well organised and friendly.  Disappointing medal really but always get a good technical t shirt. Nice to get one in dark green this year - it's not often you get a t shirt in a colour that you haven't already got! 

Lots of support from on route despite a lot of it being a bit off the beaten track.  The sponges were genius, and the locals with the hosepipe were awesome - it was so hot this year!! 

Highy recommended! 

Thame is a pretty small town with great flat countryside and an old railtrack(now the Phoenix trail) that form the route for this really enjoyable flat 10k.

The route is well signed and marshalled and there was fantastic local support all the way round. Water station at 5.2k was appreciated but the hosepipe and sponges later on even more so!!

Only issue was at the start the leisure centre car park was full very early, nearby roads also, so many had to park up a good 15 mins away.  Warning about this in advance would help next time. 

Decent if generic bling but a great t shirt plus  lots of drink options at the end.

Overall a very enjoyable attractive route, great for all levels of runner and lots of places for a restorative cake after!
