First time running this race, I have completed the Tatton park 10k a few times but not this. This course is run over alot more trail and stupidly I didnt prepare properly and wore road running shoes, this ended up with me.slipping and sliding everywhere, surprisingly I did enjoy it, even the small lake we had to run through. 

Logistics were spot on  before, during and after the race, the goody bad was slightly unusual, with tea cakes and a loaf of bread amongst more of the usual things you get.

A muddy affair I just wasn't expecting. 

I signed up to the event to get a festive run in and perhaps look for a 10k PB. I didn't realise how muddy it was going to be though.

I used road shoes which was a bad idea. I was slipping all over the place for the first 3k. It also sapped the energy out of me. I think otherwise the first 3k would have been really enjoyable, I just needed the correct trainers. 

The course switches between a path and field, with the last 1k being a tarmac road. There is also a water feature to run through at about 8k which made those last 2k very refreshing!

A chap from a ru ning club picked me up with 1k to go and I steamed home to make up some of my lost time. 

Overall pleased and I think the event is great. Supports a good cause and had a great atmosphere. 

This was my first time doing this race and I wasn't disappointed. We were informed in plenty of time about parking as they had lost their designated car park, but nothing to worry about as we parked okay. It started to lightly snow at the beginning and it was freezing but the venue was in a school hall which provided shelter, warm drinks, toilets and bag drop. The start was a 10 minute walk.

The course was 90% on trail which had a dusting of snow but a lot of mud. I wore trail trainers so had no problems. Marshalls along the route encouraging you and some with festive music playing.

About 80% of runners in festive fancy dress which was great especially with a light dusting of snow and deer running in the background. Quite a few of us stopped to take photos including a guy dress as a reindeer who did a selfie with them!

A fab medal and goodie bag with a loaf of bread, tea cakes and hand made biscuits. Makes a change from energy bars.

Overall a fab fun race to end the year, no PB due to mud and ice and uneven course but I was just going for the fun today and would definitely go back.

Great atmosphere with majority of runners festively dressed. Luckily we were in an area of the country today that wasn’t as badly affected by the snow.

The course was muddy and covered in snow in parts. I found it tough as not used to running on uneven ground. After 1km in my calves ached with the up and down of the grass and trying to dodge the mud/ice/snow.

Great festive spirit around the course and lots Marshall points has Xmas music playing. Just after half way we turned the corner to see a massive herd of reindeers in the snow covered  field in front. ‘Wow’

No pb chasing today it was all about having fun- and we did. 

Goody bag was a bit unusual - sponsored by Roberts we got a loaf, teacakes and a shortbread biscuit??

Went home to warm up with soup and bread!
