Just to add to Kevin's review, I both agree and disagree with him.
The course is fairly hilly, certainly undulating. However, I say this as someone from Suffolk so pretty much anything is hilly to me...
I prefer getting a finisher's t-shirt to a medal as do a lot of people I know. Medals just sit on a hook in my office and at least with the t-shirt I'll use it. I thought being long-sleved was a nice touch. Most race t-shirts are short, so it's good to have something for the more chilly runs.
I suspect the reason there was no medal was the same reason there were (biodegradable, paper) cups at the water stations - an attempt to reduce the environmental impact of the event. Like most, I hate drinking from cups when running, but until there's an affordable environmentally friendly alternative I'm not that fussed. The pre-race email did say they'd be using cups so if it bothers someone too much, you could've brought your own.
There was good support from the marshalls, and an event like this on a cold, wet Sunday in Feb is never going to bring out thousands of locals. Also as a 20 miler, the 10 milers I passed were really encouraging - a good community supportive feel.
Overall, great event and well run. If it fits in with my training next year, I'll be back.

Firstly and most importantly thank you to all the marshals and volunteers whose support and help was very much appreciated.
The event cost £24 for the 20 miler and what you need to know as a potential entrant for next year is that:
So in summary it's a great challenge as the hilly 20 miles nearly equal a marathon effort, however just don't expect much support or reward for your efforts.
Oh I forgot there is a great selection of cakes at the end in return for a donation to a well deserving charity - however this isn't something the organisers should necessarily get credit for.

Great early year race! I arrived early so car parking wasnt a problem, plenty of space to park as was on a grass field. Its a short walk to race HQ which was well organised with a bag drop in the same room. Plenty of toilets available. The course is on rolling countryside roads, with locals at various places supporting. Photos were taken along the way and the finish was at an end of a downhill. No finishers medal but a useful technical running shirt is useful. I'm a bit of a muttley from Wacky Races (showing my age) so would have liked a medal. All in all a great event, with the 20 miles being good training for spring marathons

The 20 is a must do race in the spring marathon training calendar for Suffolk runners. Lovely quiet Suffolk roads. Perfect organisation by Bury Pacers. Goes past Bill Wymans countryside mansion which is gorgeous. Always well turned out by the local sufffolk clubs.

This is a lovely, well organised early season race. The 10 mile race is run along with a 20 mile race which sets off 15 minutes before. Despite having to collect race numbers on the morning (often a recipe for chaos) the registration was very straight forward and bag drop was a dream.
The marshalls were all very enthusiastic and encouraging as were the kids helping out on the water stops. There was only water available which was fine for the 10 mile.
The course is fairly undulating, which if you are from a very flat part of the UK like me, means it was a little challenging, but should be a good course for a PB for most people.
No medal at the end which was a shame, just a t shirt and a bottle of water. Bag collection was brilliant - the bag drop people had seen me coming and had my bag at the desk as I arrived to collect it.
It is worth arriving slightly early as the parking is in a field at the back of someone's house. Turning into this field is well marshalled but did cause quite a que in the village (if I was a local out for my Sunday paper I wouldn't have been impressed!!) so you should leave a bit longer than you might otherwise.
All in all this was a lovely race and one that I will definitely aim to be back for - might even be tempted into the 20 miler!
