The route was amazing route through Swindon And the surrounding villages, parks and landmark marks. I have grown up and trained in Swindon For over 25 years, and as an ultra athlete I have covered many miles. However, this race took me across unknown trails and routes I’ve never touched before and amazing how much great scenary, challenge but good runnable sections can be in a town trail race. Swindon really has a great trail network. Such s warm And friendly organisation. Great support and healthy and hearty checkpoints. The start and finish at the historic lydiard park was great for access. Bling was super and as with a lot of races now, unique and sustainable. Beautiful medals made from Wood and great trophies made from reclaimed wood from a table! So Impressed and happy. The finish catering was amazing, I must point accredit Arkells for their local support - some nourishing support for those runners inclined for a tipple at the end of a hard race. My personal favourite was Lizzies Cakes. Local baker and amazing amazing beautiful looking and tasting cakes. The gluten free banana bread was my winner, so good I went back For more. (Please check her out). Only footprints events are an amazing local race organiser. With some great races, which this county has rather limited - longer trail races. Great locations, great courses, support. Come visit and explore Wiltshire!

We completed the mini ultra 19km race. Many people ran the course, but we chose to walk it. It was such a fun day and we all came away feeling like we had achieved something great. Matt was very friendly and helpful and celebrated everyone who passed through the finish line. He has a real passion and huge dedication for these events and it shows. Thank you very much! We hope to be back again next year!

The perfect end of year ultra. Seasoned runners will be tested and it is a great introduction to ultras too. Having ran numerous trail events and ultra marathons, this is up there with the best there is in the UK. More people need to be looking at this event next year. Thank you for such a great experience

TLDR: Well marked out course that is relatively flat. Free parking next to start/finish. Evenly spaced out aid stations. Great experience, highly recommended. It was my first ultra event and my main concerns were 1) Not getting lost 2) Not bonking. On the first item, the course was really well signed with a mix of printed signs, on the ground markings and ribbons hanging from branches. It made navigation really easy. I do not have maps functionality on my watch and so had the course .gpx file loaded on my mobile phone(Komoot app). Apart from reassurance, I did not need to open up the app. There were 3 aid stations evenly spaced out. Marshalls were all pleasant and helpful. I topped up with jaffa cakes and bananas from the stations and had my own energy gels and carb powder. Got through the race without feeling depleted and the stomach did not cause any issues. I really enjoyed the course, it was a good mix of everything and some great scenery in parts. There were only two hills of note and both were relatively short. Overall, I would describe the course as relatively flat. Apart from the aid stations, there were also marshals at a couple of the road crossing points. Parking location was next to the start and finish point so really convenient. All in all, I would highly recommend this course if you are thinking of doing an ultra whether a newbie to ultras or experienced. Look forward to doing it again next year.

I think everything that has been said so far is spot on. This event should be selling out every year. Really cannot fault it, in any way. Everything pre race was perfect. I spoke to Matt a few times about a few queries and he instantly got back to me. With great support and knowledge. Registration was very easy and relaxed. An unexpected buff and sweets in the pack, a very nice touch. The course is perfect, a test, beautiful trails and views. A mix of terrain. And perfect, well catered CP's.. The finish had a lovely atmosphere and the finishers medal is very cool, never seen a medal with mirror in it. And a free beer as well. Well worth the money and well worth taking part..you will not be disappointed.

Just amazing… I cannot say a bad word about this event. Pre race information was perfect, including the gpx file. It’s an early start. But the Race director explained why. The number pick up/registration, again, very straightforward. A well thought out pack, with pins, bag tag, number, buff and a pack of sweets. The route is exactly what you want from an ultra. A nice mix of hills, fields, trail, a bit of urban, canal towpath and local parks. The checkpoints were generously stocked, with friendly volunteers. And the finisher medal is amazing. The best wooden medal I have seen. Thank you for a lovely experience.
