Marathon training plan said 15miles this week so signed up to Lytham 10 Miler and planned to get there early and run and extra 5 miles to warm up then pace my wife to her first ever 10 mile run.
Timed the warm up perfectly and got back to the start line at 10:59, time to find my wife and start the run. Wait no one was there!! Have they left? No........the start line was moved 200m away from last years event. Started to run towards the start line and then suddenly 1000+ runners were heading towards me. Managed to step aside and wait for my wife to pass them joined in, I made up the 100m difference at the end of the race. This wasn’t a chip timed event so no worries there (although I was disappointed about no chip timing)
This was an out and back Course along St Anne’s promenade so we had the wind slightly with us for the first 5 miles then against us for last 5miles although we ran faster on the second half of the race?

Absolutely loved the race today- mainly for the fact I set a great time. Lots of encouragement from marshals, spectators and other runners.
Course is out and back race. Majority is along the sea front- tough when winds are high like today. Outward 5 miles with tailwind, homeward 5 miles into head wind.
Given race hoody when picked up race number- bonus. No goody bag as such just medal and water- no issue with that as most stuff goes to waste anyway. Definitely make use of hoody.
Only disappointment was race start/finish. Orange line spray painted on floor and race briefing was bloke shouting as loud as he could the course details and safety (no megaphone?)
