This was my very first Spartan, did the Sprint. I did prepare for it, but it sure gave me a hard time. Had 2 obstacles I had to take the 30 burpees instead but still was hilarious. So was Spartan Phil: did a speech that made me/ us move ![]()

One of the toughest things I have ever done! Why did I sign up for the beast. Soaking wet, cold and exhausted! Can’t wait to give it another go 馃槀

I can easily rate this as my favourite race ever!! It was the first OCR I have done and it made a great change to pounding round the roads.
So, firstly I guess it's worth mentioning that the course is, as you would expect, a challenge, however, give it a go and enjoy!! There is a brilliant atmosphere of teamwork at the Spartan race and plenty of people willing to give you a boost over the odd wall or three if you're a shorty like me
Registration was dead simple and well organised, there were loads of loos and a simple bag drop. The briefing was, well, given by a super hot guy dressed in a skimpy Spartan outfit. Pretty sure he said something but who knows how helpful it was and, frankly, who cares!!!
There are a few things to bear in mind if you want to do this race. Firstly, don't be the guy that lost his shoe in the 2 foot deep mud 200m into the race! Do your laces up tight...2 foot deep mud is NOTHING!! Also, you need some upper body strength! This is a challenging race...you will need to be able to pull yourself up over walls, lift logs, carry sandbags, shift giant tyres, swing across monkey bars, etc. No point doing the race to fail every obstacle...it's 30 burpees for every one you fail and there are 23 in the Sprint!! Lastly, go with a friend. It would be fun on your own but it's more fun with a friend/s. Laugh your way round together and then compare bruises throughout the next week!!
Definitely recommended!!!

Have done quite a few OCR's now but this was my first Spartan event. This is not a cheap event.
We went for the Beast option which is estimated 12-14 miles, according to everyone's watches it came in at 11 miles. This was slightly disappointing and the message we got on the course was it was nearer 15 miles!
Parking was a bit tricky in a muddy field, number of cars getting stuck and needing assistance. Registration was slow and some people missed their allotted times but one positive was the event village was all close together so that made logistics pretty easy.
Start pen was quite crowded but as soon as we started the runners thinned out quite quickly. My biggest issue with this event was the first big obstacle was a single tunnel crawl but it was far too early into the event. There was a queue to get through which we stood in for best part of 15 minutes!
Once we started running properly I loved the course and the event, there were some brilliant obstacles and some bloody tough ones too. Lots of water stations on the route and plenty of good marshalls supervising. Plenty of mud and bruises which are a good sign of a decent event.
Absolutely superb medal and finishers t-shirt and some good refreshments in the event village.
The event is chip timed which adds the competitive element which some OCR's don't do, this I liked and makes me want to return next year

This was the trilogy complete me and a work colleague set off from the safety of Suffolk to darkest Deepest Windsor to slay the Spartan Beast.
It was all that was expected from the affectionately named "burpee maker" after the lake swim and rope wall climb...the little wins of nailing the javelin throw quickly becomes heartbreak when you slip and fall off the warped wall
TWENTY BURPEES PLEASE.....!!!
Its a bucket list event....so much i want it again and have made a stoooopid error in the Trifecta weekend....not sure how I'll walk let alone complete sprint and super the DAY AFTER the beast.
Bring it on....!!!
AROO.....
