This was my 2nd time doing the South Cheshire 20. This year i was determined to finush without walking. The course is hilly and between miles 8 and 11 it will test you. If you get the first half of the race wrong then you'll definitely pay later on.

As this is a local event it's not chip timed or expensive but is a great route. It's also perfect timing for any late autumn marathons

The food stations are about every 3 to 4 miles and they mainly contain water with the odd one being juice.

When you get to the finish there is a bag waiting for you containing a pack of oats, some alcohol free beer and a gingerbread man. There was also a t-shirt but I must have missed where they were handing them out 

This is a value for money event with no fuss and if you don't mind open roads then get entered. I didn't at any time feel unsafe.

This was my first 20 miler and an event I will a little nervous about. It's a smallish field so there isn't anywhere to hide.

Overall I found the event enjoyable with a few minor tweaks needed. Registration and logistics was fine, although more than 1 mens toilet might be something to look into for next year.

The course is nice enough and there are some lovely country roads to run down. This isn't a traffic free event so you have to be careful around speeding cars. The marshalls did an great job but it's difficult to stop everyone on a 20 mile course.

Feed stations were adequate and some locals gave out sweets too.

I was disappointed there wasn't a medal at the end, I'm sure I read there would be one.

Overall a nice training run for my marathon and the hills will definitely make me stronger.

A lovely pre Autumn marathon race. Marshals are superb. 5 water stations & lots of sweets to be had. Mostly on quiet roads. Directed well enough.  Last person has a sweeper, very encouraging. 4 hr cut off not strictly adhered to. Cheap as chips. Small but perfectly formed goody bag. Good parking & changing facilities, including showers.
