I got invited to see what Shrewton 10k had to offer by a fellow racecheck member. . On arrival you are met by many smiling Marshalls helping you park up and sending you to the check in and bag drop. It's around 500 metres from the carpark .Once there you greeted with more very welcoming people out to help you. Before the start you can get hot and cold drinks and food for family while they wait for you to get back. The call is made 10 minutes for the start of the race. There 10 second count down before the fireing of a Canon that rings out around the hills and make you jump. Make sure you been to the loo when that happens 馃ぃ馃ぃ You off one lap of the Cricket ground out on to the main village road. You head to your first hill which isn't bad but long to get you on the flat road to Larkhill . Around 2 k ish you take a left this road has fantastic views over the Wiltshire countryside. There also a chance to see the army out training in there tanks. One more left turn on to one of the roads the tanks use .The road has some big pot hole but this make it more fun. 5K you have Shrewton running club and marshalls making sure we all ok out there with water sweets and more. The next 3 k is much the same great country road with a nice run down hill to the 8k mark where with abit of a smile the marshalls say good luck. This is when you see a nice test for the legs a hill off road , I didn't find it to hard but it was good to get to the top. The award was you get a nice steady run down hill to the the Cricket ground. Once around back to the finish with everyone cheering you on . You handed your medal with a well done water ,milk and more sweets and snacks.. if you back you can clap and cheer other's in from the club house where they do the best cakes. Always good after a race. I would most definitely go back next year and hopefully more #visorclub members will join the four of us who went.馃榿馃憤

The first run of this race in Shrewton, and what a race it is, value for money without a doubt, the running club have gotten off to a great start, The people involved are very friendly, we had tea or coffee for sale, and even cakes. Going around the 10k course takes you to the Rolleston camp area and the now abandoned Bustard Inn, Salisbury plain area, then a cheeky....very cheeky hill, which had some great signs, such as...."now you know why its called the bustard" hahahaha, loved it and will be going again.
highly recommended.

The first ever Shrewton Bustard 10k.
If you ever visited Stonehenge, then you would probably notice Salisbury Plain (army training area), lots of fields and trail roads.
In the middle there is a small little village called Shrewton.
Shrewton Running Club who only recently formed a few years ago are a great family feel club who decide to test themselves and stage their first ever event.
The location and parking were simple, with no queuing.
When you arrive at the HQ (local Cricket Club) you head into the Club house to pick up your race number, where you will be greeted by a happy Shrewton team. (there is also a massive selection of cakes to try) ;)
Toilets were of plenty (in the Club house and outside) and surprisingly, no queuing. A first.
Outside the Club house, where the start line is, they really put effort in and used their contacts well. Big blow up tent, and a full sound system. Really created a buzzing atmosphere for everybody. The man on the microphone was great at motivating everybody.
Race:
You start off with a lap of the cricket pitch and then led off through a car park onto London Road, then after a mile you turn left towards Salisbury Plain. Here if you’re lucky, like us, will see a series of Tanks all lined up. You continue along this road for another two miles. At the end of this road, there is a drink station. You then led up a slight incline road before you meet the ''Bustard'' of the Hill. This Hill starts on a Stoney road which has a big incline. I ran up it ok, but a few had to walk, if your good at hills, then you can really catch some people up. Once you reach the summit, you have a mile and half downhill sprint to the finish. I did love running down this hill. it wasn't steep, just perfect and smooth to cruise down (my fasted mile). When you reach the finish area, you then have to navigate another lap of the cricket ground, anti-clockwise this time and then you’re done. :)
At the finish line, they have provided table full of sweets and two options of goody bags (one that contains nuts)
The hill near the end did make a few groan (happyish ones) but it does give this race something unique about it.
What I loved, is on how organised and the effort Shrewton Running Club put in. For a small budget race, they really used their contacts well, which would easily out shine some UK big events to be honest.
Also, they took all their own photos and provided them for free by the evening. Class touch.
Hope they get another chance to stage this event in 2020.

A brilliant inaugral race. Pre race information was clear and easy to follow. Car parking was very well organised and only a short walk from the race village. Bib collection was simple and quick with toilets on site with no queues. Pre race tea / coffee along with numerous food /cakes etc were on offer. The start was signalled by the cannon and you were off. A lap of the field and you was out onto the roads with the first half rather undulating. It levels out but the sting in the tail is a cheeky hill at around 7km just to keep you in your toes. Once this has been negotiated its downhill all the way to the finish. After receiving your great finishes medal, water and fresh milk were available along with a very nice goody bag. A thoroughly enjoyable 10k, very well organised with great marshalls and we were blessed with great weather. A nice touch was a few hours later your pictures were availble free on Flickr.

What a great inaugural race! Perfect pre-race set up. Well organised parking, swift number collection and no loo queues. A thorough race briefing was followed by a thunderous canon as the race start. The course was up hill more or less for the first half and then rather undulating for the second half. A so-called ‘cheeky’ hill slowed things down at 7km but we were rewarded with a downhill finish. A really enjoyable 10k with almost no traffic, great marshals with lists of all runners, and very nice goody bags and medals. I will definitely be back in 2020!
