This was the third year in a row that I'd run this event, and it's one of my favourites. It's superbly organised and the route runs through beautiful countryside (the hills are worth it!)

This was the first year that the race had taken place in October, having previously been held in June, and the moderate temperature was appreciated.

The race HQ provides all the refreshments you would expect, and there are proper toilets available, which is always appreciated!

The race starts with a loop around the town ~ including the infamous Wyle Cop ~ before heading out onto country lanes. The marshals were friendly and supportive throughout, and local spectators were offering both water and sweets from their driveways, as well as encouragement.

The medal, t-shirt and goody bag for this race are always of good quality, and free photographs are offered which are downloadable to social media directly if required. I'd recommend this race to anyone and may even go back again!

This is a cracker of a race through a very pretty town and countryside route. However if you don’t like hills, this isn’t the race for you!

Extremely well organised and runners were kept well informed of difficulties caused by the bad weather running up to race day by social media.

A small goodie bag with no unnecessary fliers and a paper (not plastic) bag, a tech T-shirt and lovely medal greeted you at the end. 

The marshalls on the route were superb and there was lots of support in the town.

All in all, a great race! 

A beautiful scenic route from start to finish, and a great way to experience a new town.

The hills are definitely a challenge so some hill training would really benefit you before the race! However, the inclines are balanced nicely with some downwards sections including the final couple of miles, so you can gain some time back here.

The event was organised really well, great marshals, great support from the locals which is very much appreciated when you’re struggling along the inclines! 

The goody bag gets 10 points from me for being paper, with Hula Hoops, an Eat Natural bar and a banana inside, with no unnecessary flyers, oh and the T-shirts were available in extra small.

First time at Shrewsbury and it didn't disappoint. Organised by the good folks at UK Run Chat, you'd think they'd know what makes a good event and it was obvious they do!  Despite some horribly wet weather in the run up to this event, apart from a fair amount of water in the parking areas and a (very sensible) slight alteration to the last but of the course, the rest of the route was fine.  It's a hilly affair though. The first half of the route snakes its way through the centre of the town, with plenty of ups and downs, before the second half heads out onto country lanes befre heading back to the finish at the showground.  Apart from the first mile or so along the river, I'm struggling to remember a flat part of the route - it's either up or down most of the way.  Goodie bags at the end consisted of a cereal bar, crisps and banana to go with the good quality medal and tshirt.  Nice to see too that water atthe finish was in cartons and bags were paper, although plastic bottles were still used at the water stations.  My main gripe about a lot of events is the cost of photos, but not at this one as the hotos are included in the cost of race entry - will other event organisers please take note?  All-in-all a cracking event and thoroughly recommended!
