Well what can i say, this is a race for all abilities from elite to 1st timers, it has everything a race could want for, from amazing support from locals to fantastic scenery.

It all starts off in a narrow medeival market town street, slightly down hill until you hit the 1st real test of this course a leg sapping 1 in 5 climb that goes on forever.

Once over this hill the rest are easy, but dont underestimate them they can still surprise you.

After crossing English bridge at maker 7 you head into the local park where the support is amazing and you can hear the annocers at the finish before heading out to the off on the last 2k.

Now the end is here you are challenged with a series of turns heading upward until the last corner when u arrive back at the start/finish.

A note is that because of so many runner 2000, the collection of medals/t-shirts can take some time as you are funneled into the collection area.

This is 1 medal that deserves its place in any collection.

Headed out to run the Shrewsbury 10k today. Well organised race apart from the bottle neck t-shirt and medal collection which took 20 minutes. Apart from that I highly recommend this race. Very up and down run which gives you the breaks after stomping up hills. Some beautiful scenery and a high street finish in this medieval town. The medal itself is a peach. Great for those Mercedes fans! 

This race is far from our local race but thought we would enter when visiting family.

The race starts right in the centre of beautiful Shrewsbury and the race village was busy and buzzing with the comentator on the mic trying to motivate everyone. I was too busy looking for a toilet to make use of this encouragement. I managed to find a Cafe Nero and joined the ridiculous queue. Can there please be more toilet facilities in the future?!

I knew from checking the course profile beforehand that the course was hilly so made sure I didnt run off too fast which seemed to work as I managed to pass people along the course. There was lots of crowds along the way which really helped me to keep plodding on to the end. 

We receiived a fab looking medal and a red and white tshirt which bled in the wash so went straight in the bin. My bfs time wasnt recorded, we chased this up and they just added his time according to his Garmin on to the systme which made a farce of the timing system.

Despite this error, we really enjoyed this race as the locals were very friendly and it had a great atmosphere around it.

Having completed the inaugural race in 2016, I was looking forward to 2017.  It didn't disappoint!

Well organised (numbers posted pre-race this year......a significant improvement on collection the day before the race last year), very well supported and in the pretty and historic county town of Shrewsbury.

The race is reasonably priced, technical tee, bespoke medal and a nice little goodie bag as standard, plus prizes for placed runners.

It's fast, friendly and challenging (a couple of cheeky hills to test you) but also suited to fun-runners who just want to soak up the atmosphere. Despite the challenge, I'd say it has PB potential as I set my own PB here in 2016
