Nice out and back route, slight hill each way over the bridge but not too much. Clearly marked and marshalled. Brutal ~200m hill just before the finish, fun but tough. Great medal a few years back, nice badge and material (with a t-shirt too, I believe). Really disappointing medal in 2022, no distance distinguishing the 10k or half marathon medals, cheap material and the badge was made of clay! I even heard someone drop and break theirs in the car park afterwards. Overall, disappointing medal and lack of t-shirt, but a great race that I'll still be doing again.

A well organised friendly event with some great views as you run along the bridge. Prior to the race instructions were very clear on how to get to the race HQ. A lumping course but nothing too challenging with water stations approximately after every 5k. A slight improvement could be the start of the race a count down would have been helpful, as it seems the starter horn just suddenly went off with little warning so was a bit of a shock to the system.

First time doing this event and it was brilliant! I was guiding a visually impaired runner and we had a huge amount of support from the various marshalls. Biggest thanks has to go to Christopher who marshalled on the motorway at roughly the half way point - if you can imagine the most enthusiastic man you've ever met then this was him!

Definitely a bucket list event.... how often can you run on a motorway (safely)? The event takes you back and forth(twice) over the Severn crossing. Its not flat as there is a slight accent to the middle of the bridge then a slight descent. Nonetheless PB potential as mostly straight (there are off course 180 turnaround points otherwise you'll end up running towards Bristol). The race uses one side of the motorway and its wide enough to pass easily. You are however exposed to the elements with no shelter. Today was a fair 18c so easier. Having the sun in your face for the eastbound part was not so great though (as the organisers suggested you might need suncream) There are enough water points and marshals to guide you around safely. Spectators are limited to either side of the bridge so can be a bit of a lone journey for a lot of the way. Other good aspects: very good pre race info, free parking (some events are charging to park at their event and this event could have quite easily made a good few grand if they charged £5 a car but they didn't), a goody bag with biscuits/ haribo/ fruit shoot/ crisps and there was a banana option too. Now the medal was interesting..... looked very much like a chocolate coin on a ribbon....unique like the event itself.... I would say this was a beginners event too looking at the distribution of run times and if you don't want to do the whole HM there's a 10k option. Lastly this was rather inexpensive.... in comparison to other less impressive events.

Definitely a bucket list event for me to run on the old Severn Bridge motorway (closed to cars for the event). Half marathon and 10k options were available the year I ran. The year before there was torrential rain but the year I ran had blistering heat. Running across the bridge, there's no protection from any of the elements and lots of people were struggling and stopping due to the heat. I found parking and registration easy. Lots of signs to indicate where to go with those running the half marathon setting off first. What I really didn't like was the absolute ban on all headphones; I understand the race organisers had to put this in place but it means it's not one I'd sign up for again. The route is, obviously, all on road and the 10k was an out and back. The view over the bridge is fantastic but otherwise it's just motorway but for me it was such a unique event that this didn't matter. I can only recall one water station for the 10k people. Usually when I run a 10k I don't bother with water but it was so hot it was needed and it felt like the event would have benefitted from a water station on the bridge as well. The ending was pretty brutal on such a hot day up a steep section but the fantastic medal made it all worth it. There were only cotton T-shirts the year I ran but I understand there are technical T-shirt options too now. Great atmosphere at the finish and it was nice to sit down with an ice cream waiting for friends to come in.

Overall a good race on a challenging course. Obviously the chance to run over the bridge is the big draw but beyond the bridge the route is still scenic. The marshalling on the course was great and everyone seemed well organised.
