A lovely race. A beautiful setting. Great support throughout the course.

The final event of my first season in triathlon, and a perfect one to do the day before supporting friends at Ironman Wales.
Parking and registration were in close proximity on the harbour front, and we were welcomed by a beautiful sunrise.
The swim was millpond flat and the decision to change it to a single lap was a wise one.
The bike leg was challenging with a climb out of the town immediately after T1; fortunately not up Heartbreak Hill ! The rest of the course was a good mix of fast flats and and more steep climbs.
The run was mostly level along the stunning sea front to Wiseman's Bridge. My only critisism was with the poorly lit tunnels, especially going from bright sunshine in dark sunglasses into the virtually pitch black first tunnel. Even the warning in the briefing didn't prepare me for this and the uneven floor, which resulted in me badly twisting my ankle.
However, the event was otherwise very well organised and well supported, and the atmosphere of the whole weekend made this one of my favourites. I'll be back next year.

I signed up the event as i was in Tenby the following day supporting the Ironman event, but also as a good way to finish the year with a sprint triathlon and one i knew would be well organised by the Activity Wales team.
Registration on the friday evening was no problem, easy enough to park either by the harbour or hall where the registration took place. Little disappointed at registration that you had to pay extra for an event tshirt but it was fine, i was there for the event not the tshirt.
First and foremost the weather didn't disappoint. Stunning location and with the sun rising over a very flat and calm sea it couldn't have been better. I managed to park the car just up the road from the town which meant a nice gentle stroll down to the front with the bike and bags. Transition was buzzing and the events team had gone all out with a huge stage in front of the transition area.
Race briefing was great as usual with Scott on the mic and the organisers had changed the swim to one lap rather than 2 small laps which suited everyone better. Felt like lots of newbies which was reassuring and everyone was having a good laugh and chat as we started and made our way into the water down the slip way. Other than the odd elbow, it was a pretty tidy swim and run back up to tranistion.
The bike took us out from the harbour and straight up a hill (although thankfully it wasnt heartbreak hill!) 2 laps followed of a rolling route, couple of steep hills, flat bits, descent down heartbreak hill and back into the town. I will say people in this part of town really know how to support events. The locals on their front gardens and the sheer amount of cheering and clapping down the harbour and town was just fantastic!
The run then was the oppostite direction down the front, through 2/3 very dark tunnels which were also a little uneven and towards the forest area by wisemans bridge. All flat except for the slilght incline through the forest but this was nothing at all. The route took you right along the sea front and with the sun still rising, it was a pretty stunning route!
Good run back then to the town and across the line alongisde the sea. Fantastic medal as well and a brilliant event. Highly recommended!!

This race was recommended by some friends who signed up. It was a good weekend to have it as the ironman was that weekend and we came out to support friends. So I signed up for this - my first sprint race. The location was lovely and the price of the event was brilliant £40. Everything from registration to the finish line went well.
This is in my top choices of events. The swim was changed from a two lap to a longer 1 lap (750m) which was great as the slower people would have been lapped. My gun time on the swim 26mins. It was a rolling start from the beach. The water was waist high so you could get used to it and warm. The water was still and the weather was in our favour. There are jelly fish- but luckily I didn't meet any !
T1 was easy and quick. Signed posted and marshalled well.
The bike was hilly. Two lap course. Pretty much straight into a hill after transition. It was marshalled well. The first lap was very busy with the fast cyclists passing by and lots of support. The second lap was quite and alot of the local support were gone. The marshals were still cheering though. The bike took me 1:05 for 20k
T2, same again easy and quick. Sign posted and marshalled.
The run was gorgeous! It was along the sea front. Beautiful ! Lots of local support. It was an out and back and you ran though some tunnels. Well marshalled and cheering every time some one passed by. It was a 5k and I completed that in 30.09!
Running back into the finish. Red carpet laid out, and good support. My husband at the finish with the camera ready! -(he was my support crew this weekend, he raced the weekend before ;p )
Everything from the race numbers to the finish line and medals were great. I will diffinately be looking at racing this again and hopefully beat my time of 2:05!
Well done to everyone. Great race to go to with friends. Thanks to the organisers and marshalls and everyone that cheered me along. And thanks to my husband for helping me with training and supporting me.

Great 1st running of this event, which is pretty much the warm up to IM Wales at Tenby 3miles down the coast the day after.
750m single lap swim from the slip way in the centre of Saundersfoot leads you to a lumpy 2lap bike course, expect your HR to rise pretty sharply from the outset.
The bike leads you the opposite way down St Brides Hill (Heartbreak Hill for the IM Wales course) care should be taken as foolish riding could lead to trouble here. Take heed of the the race briefing they warn you for good reason.
A 5K run out and back through the tunnels to Wisemans Bridge is fab hugging the coast line but pretty much pan flat. Saundersfoot is a great setting for a sprint Tri in a beautiful little part of South West Wales.
Take a bow Activity Wales!!
