Back for my second year, this year was wet and muddy (in comparsion to last year where it was the hottest evening...ever). Slippy in places but well marshalled. Lots of support in and around the woodland.  Seems strange running up and down the same area but the trees  and woods do dis-orientate you so it doesn't feel like its the same paths.  

The race director arranges quite a few local races and is a 'stickler' for headphones and numbrs on tops (not legs). So be warned.

Nice red printed tech t-shirt this year, last year was a buff. 

I enjoy races like these - low key, local events organised by nearby running clubs on summer evenings.

This was my second running of this event. 2018 was one of the warmest races I've known, and 2019 was run in the rain after one of the wettest weeks in June. This being a trail race, made it muddy and slippy in places, but at least running under tree coverage gave some protection from the heaviest rain.

Except for a 0.75 mile section around a rutted field, the course is a really nice one - different paths through Sandall Beat Wood.

The marshals were plentiful and encouraging, and the few locals out for a walk were supportive.

The race director is a well known local "character" who doesn't like headphones, so be prepared to be shouted at if you wear them (I didn't but others did).

It's as cheap as chips at £14.50 a for a friendly 10k, with a great technical finishers t shirt, bottle of water and chocolate bar at the end.

This is the third time I have done this race, and this year was the first year it wasn't baking hot!

It's an enjoyable, locally organised race - the majority of the route is on trails through the woods, there is around a 0.75 mile when you run around a playing field (which is grim!), but the rest of the route is really enjoyable.  The weather made some parts of the trail pretty muddy, but it was still very safe if you watched your step.

Despite the torrential rain in the build up, and rain on the night, it didn't spoil the race - in fact the woods provided very adequate protection from the rain, you could hear it pounding the leaves but you never actually got wet!

The entry is cheap (£14.50 including booking fee) and at the end you got a bottle of water, a t-shirt and a much welcome Mars Bar!

Second time at this race. Throughly enjoyed despite the weather trying to ruin it. Being a wet trail race meant there was mud but the trees shaded from the downpours. 

The route starts off round the field and into the wood where you zig zag your way through the wood. There is one boring bit were you run on the outside of a playing field but is only roughly 3/4 of a mile if that... 

Marshalls were great and good support. T-shirt fab, water and a MARS bar at the finish. Lovely local run!
