Absolutely fantastic event with seamless organisation! The best trail run I have done so far. People of every ability taking part….from walkers to the super competitive runners. I only hope this event grows in popularity. 4.9* out of 5 because I prefer metal medals over wooden.

You need the marshals to know the route and not send runners on the wrong route. I trained for 13 weeks to be disqualified because marshals didn’t know the route or were confused due to mismanagement of the marking system, blue race numbers and pink marker flags for half marathon and blue markers for 10k. If it was my mistake I wouldn’t care but to be instructed on course to run down a random path, just by luck and the help of strangers I found the check point. Just setting people up to fail. No communication afterwards or apologies. I won’t be attending again.

Sincere apologies for this experience Dean. I must have missed you somehow in the clubhouse but I was apologising to anyone and everyone for this error. It shouldn't have happened and we can't apologise enough. We have emailed you a free entry as way of apology. We agree with your comments and will be making sure this doesn't happen again. Thanks for making the effort to come and support the charity

Thought the event was superbly organised with very supportive Marshalls. The only thing I would suggest is I didn't see a drink station. Will deffo be back again next year.

Number bibs were not same colour as flags. Marshalls told runners doing longer race to follow blue flags which were for shorter race. In future I think Marshalls need to know route as well as runners and bib colours same as flags for separate races. Blue bibs were following pink flags and gold bibs were following blue flags which was confusing. Also could do with more advertising to get more runners and keeping open until full. Race details were emailed the day before not long to get maps and kit sorted so could do with this sooner. It was a great event and the food and T shirts at end were great. I would definitely do a 3 rd time. Good it had more distances to choose from and I got a few Boro runners to take part and they enjoyed it too.

Thanks for this Catherine, 100% agree with matching bib numbers to coloured signs, something that we hadn't picked up on. Learning for next ones. The event info was sent via email just over 1 week in advance but we had noticed that some had not received it when they got in touch. So we resent and added to social media. We will investigate why these weren't received or why they may have gone to junk emails and rectify. We are also exploring with our web provider how to best include more info for each event on the designated pages. We do hope to get more people involved in future and grow the numbers, to that end we have invested in marketing and social media support for the rest of the year. Hopefully this works. Thank you again for the photos and we look forward to seeing you at the next one.

I really enjoyed the Samaritans trail event. The course itself is challenging but the views once you are up in the moors are fantastic. There is a mix of terrains which added to the enjoyment of the event. Trail shoes are definitely recommended. I got plenty of information prior to the event and on the day check in was smooth. I would say there was about 100 runners across the two events which kept things slick and maintained a nice friendly atmosphere. All the marshalls on course and at aid stations were very supportive and friendly. There was no chip timing which was not a issue for me but might be for others I don't know. Therefore if your looking for a challenging trail run with a great atmosphere sign up for the Samaritans run and also help support a great cause.

Thanks Rob appreciate this. Chip timing is in consideration but only if we have increased participant numbers. Unfortunately the systems are very expensive to hire and/or buy so at the moment with the size of the event it's not a viable option. See you at the next one hopefully

Very well organised event, registration was quick & easy, very friendly team of people running the event. The course was very well marked and it was a challenging but very beautiful route. Aid stations were well stocked and there was the added bonus of hot food and cakes at the end. Perhaps sustainability could’ve been improved, by avoiding the use of disposable cutlery/ trays for food & offering ‘Trees not Tees’. Overall it was an excellent event and I will definitely do it again.

Thanks Julie, appreciate this. I will pass on the feedback regarding the catering to the Rugby Club. Hopefully we can influence them on the sustainability side of things.
