It was my first half marathon and a well organized event. The course if quite flat. There are a couple of issues though. 1. For the half marathon, you need to run around the lap 6.75 times. If you look at the old results on the websites you can see that the median finish time for the event is around 1hour 37 minutes! This is not because of the flatness of the course or that the event is attended by elite athletes. The simple reason is that a lot of runners make a mistake in counting the laps mentally and run 5.75 laps instead. If you plot the histogram of the finish times, you can clearly see this effect. 2. The course is around 21.8km. I understand that my Garmin is not accurate, but if you look at the Strava postings of other athletes it is abvious that the course is definitely more than 21.1 km. 3. There are 5k, 10k and Half Marathon runners running at the same time. Being overtaken by a 5k runner with fresh legs is a bit annoying when you are running a half marathon running your 20th km.

The marshalls around the course offered smiles and support even for those of us at the back of the pack. The course is fast and flat and although it was 6.5 laps for the half marathon, I did not find myself getting bored- especially because of the steel drums being played!

RunThrough events are as always well organised  and good value for money.

My only issue with Victoria Park is that it is a bit awkward to get to with no 'close' tube or train stations - but not RunThrough's fault.

The route is fast and flat, well paved and plenty wide enough for 5lk, 10k and Half Marathoners to use simultaneously.

The course is ok, not a great deal to see or to entertain, and it goes a bit all over the place and easy to get lost around the finish area or when to turn off to the finish.

The finish area is well stocks with a few stalls and a large baggage marquee which took seconds to collect my bag, plus plenty of portaloo's.

All round a good event, I wouldn't bother travelling that far again until i was particularly aiming for a PB race.
