It is definitely not a flat course rather undulating with many twists and turns nonetheless there is possibility of getting a PB. Towards the latter portion of the race we merged with the slower 10k runners so we had to weave in and out a bit. Despite headphones not being permitted (unless bone conducting) there were several people with headphones unaware of their surroundings. Did they face consequences? No. Can people no longer be with their own thoughts? A discussion for another time. I think the marshals on the course could have shown more enthusiasm albeit those helping out at the bag drop were well organised and friendly. There were about 3 or 4 water stations on the course, would have been nice to have a few more. For the medal, the band/ribbon differentiated between the half marathon and 10k however the medallion was identical with both the 10k & half-marathon inscribed.

Great course to run around, very enjoyable and so unique. it’s not several laps like a lot of run through events, it’s one big lap. Some sections you do twice but there is so much going on with different thinks to see, slight variations on surface you are running on (99% is paved) and although I wouldn’t say it’s a hilly course there is still a good amount of elevation with rolling small changes in gradient. All of this makes the course very enjoyable. There are a few occasions where you can see runners everywhere running in all different directions which is fun as you certainly will never be left feeling alone on the course. There is also a couple of occasions where you run across the direction of other runners like in a criss cross set up and although this added to the fun can easily see a collision happening. All this sounds like it’s all a bit crazy when running but it really isn’t, it’s well posted and marshaled and clear at all times where you are going. Had a brilliant time running the event and will be back CONS: Unfortunately with runthrough it’s the same issues that come up, there is not enough toilets, they don’t put out any portoloos, they rely on the couple available within the Stadium. They never put enough toilets out for there events and is a huge problem. They also still give out a generic medal for both 10k and half marathon…they have to be individual. Or at least individual ribbons. If you’ve done a half marathon it shouldn’t reference a 10k on it. I also had issues with registration but that was cleared up by the friendly staff before the event Overall, brilliant course, challenging in places but so interesting, great staff and organization generally good, will be back in the future

The start was well organised and the coloured pens were clear to find. There were pacers across the field which catered for everyone.
There were good facilities at the aid stations which were all well organised too.
The medal and t-shirt were great once I finally got myself round the rather tricky course! I would have been fine had it not told me I was entering a flat race!!

I would recommend this race as prep for a marathon as it really helped me in the lead up to Paris too.

Can’t fault the organisation of the race and the goody bag was great, however, I have never been so utterly bored during a run - I was bored by mile four. I wouldn’t run this again.

A very convoluted course through the park and I was worried that it might be confusing or over crowded, but it was fine. There was not much to look at but the many twists and turns of the course stopped the boredom and meant you could always have sight of a stream of runners in another direction or in the near distance. Overall I enjoyed it and it was surprisingly a reasonably fast course.

This was the first year this event took place, It certainly was different with lots of turns and coming back on yourself, was nice starting from the Olympic Park, would of been nice finishing inside the park itself. It was a wet and freezing day, the event village was literally a couple of tents, nothing to shout home about. Baggage drop was easy and smooth. It was on grass so was quite messy, luckily it had dried up a bit. Normal pens to start, i started with the 2.10 pacers, very friendly, got to know them on Twitter so knew who I was looking for. The route, well it certainly was different but interesting you went down one way, back up the same, went round one corner, then round another, down a hill, up a hill, was really interesting. The end was nothing special, no event village, I will be back in 2020 :)

This was my first Runthrough event and I was delighted to be part of the offical pace team put together by Runarchy. This is a brand new half marathon set in and around the grounds of the Olympic stadium. I was asked to pace the 1.50 group. It was quite a large field of over 3000 runners and the logisitcs around the start were a bit hectic with the bag drop and starting pens. I was a little nervous about the route based on the map but the course was brilliant. We weaved our way around the various parts of the Olympic Park and we were always seeing groups of runners at different pace groups, it was brilliant to see so many of the Runarchy pace team. The marshals were brilliant and there were nunerous aid stations on the course, for a cold day the crowd support was pretty good too. My only negative point which was heightened as a pacer was the location of some mile markers which were way out on occasion. I brought my group of runners home in 1.49.53 and there plenty of PB’s and happy runners at the end. We all received a beautiful medal and great finishers t-shirt. Overall I loved this event and think it could grow in to a very big race, I certainly hope to be back again in 2020. Great work Runthrough.

I was one of the pacers (2:55) so certain criteria I couldn't possibly comment on as it didn't apply to me. However, as with any Runthrough events, the half marathon was well organised. The rubbish weather put a bit of a dampener on the race village atmosphere and around certain parts of the route unfortunately but that is obviously something the organisers have no control over. On paper the route looked a bit confusing with the twists and turns but it was actually executed quite well within the Olympic Park to take in the sights of all the iconic London 2012 venue. At points you could see runners in all directions throughout the course. It certainly made for a interesting sight and you could hear people cheering and encouraging you regardless of where on the course you were. It wasn't a completely flat course but the inclines were manageable. At times some of the mile markers were out, which made it a bit interesting pacing wise but eventually they worked themselves out. For those using their watch there were also a couple of GPS black spots near the Velopark. The medal and tshirt are a fab design. I'd certainly run it again.

This was the very first time this race was run and I ran it as the 1:45 pacer. It a very twisty course around the Olympic Park and runners do cross each other quite a bit. This does help and all the runners encouraged each other which is great to see. The route is fairly flat with just a few inclines and no more than that and it's a great way to see all the venues in the park. Mike markers were a bit out as It was measured via GPS, however, this is a minor thing and for a new race which has a lot of turn backs it's only to be expected. The organisers did a great job with access and parking was straightforward and the event will only get better and grow.
