Took part in this 10k in May 2018- a super hot day!

As always with runthrough events, registration was easy online and then you pick up your race number on the day. 

The 10k was two laps of the park on a mixture of paths, gravel and woody areas. There were hills- which made it challenging! The marshalls were excellent and made sure that the route was easy to follow. I have done other events in the park which were not so well marshalled- so extra points to runthrough for that!

One water station at 5km- this was plenty. 

The medal is lovely and unique- it includes the dinosaurs that the park is famous for. 

Flapjacks at the end - always a bonus.

What's not to like? 

What a hot sunny day for this race! I have never taken part in a runthrough event but having seen them advertised on social media and their awesome medals, it was only a matter of time before I would! 

I am so glad I did. The event was really organised from the off. There was a small issue with my registration but it was sorted so quickly that I wouldn't have know. Everyone was really friendly and willing to help. I loved the motivational chalk boards around the registration area and the rock choir was a fantastic added touch. 

I had originally planned to do the 10k with my friend but the heat and the fact we were on a tight time schedule to get home meant we opted for 5k in the end. To be honest with the hills and heat I was more than happy to do just 5k. Running around Crystal palace park was great, I have never been before and felt like I saw so much in just that short run. The marshals were lovely on the way around and seeing other people out walking while we were running made it feel relaxed.

I was very happy to see the finish time and although I didn't run as fast as I would have liked, it didn't matter. I had smiled, laughed, got some sun and done a bit of hill training! 

Runthough events are definitely runs that I will be doing again and can't wait to get to the Olympic park or Lee Valley for another one. Hopefully 10k next time.
