This is an event that very much is designed for a festival feel, but it's something that's difficult to achieve whilst the pandemic is ongoing. It's unlike any other race I've done with the course being split up over multiple stages - it's an interesting difference, and one that I'm interested to try again. The best way to describe it is interval training on hills. Some of the hills are hard work to climb, but for every up there's a section of fast-paced fun going down hill. I think under normal circumstances it'd be a lot more social too. Only downside I can think of is that the medals are individually wrapped in single-use plastic so isn't the greenest of races (likely due to COVID though!). I think it's a race that is definitely worth a go.

My 1st race for over 18 months and the 3rd time i have done this event. All a little different as you would expect but extremmly well organised and set up. Evrything was well spaced out and until the final stage of the run i was never with anymore than 3 people. evrything had been really thought out to coincide with current regulations and covid guidelines.
Well done guys another fantastic event and what a way to start my events this year. Keep up the good work.

Probably the most fun race you can do. It’s so unique in the way it’s set out in multi stages.
A reasonably taxing route if you want to get a quick time, but if you’re not a super speedster then it’s the most ideal route for enjoying a leisurely run out surrounded by likeminded people. Everyone is friendly a chatty as you go through the various stages, with the best marshall support!
A dilemma for me beforehand was trail shoes or not. Lots of reviews here say they’re a must, but it hadn’t rained for a few days and most of the trails are either path or tree covered. I opted for road shoes which were absolutely fine - no issues. If it rained however then trail shoes would definitely be needed.
Aid stations were a little lacking for the length of race but otherwise it’s a cracking event, and fully justifies the hype.
If you like running off road, or fancy a new challenge then get this one in the diary!

This was my first Round Sheffield. My longest run to date and definitely the hillest!!
The Race itself is unique. Cut into stages with dabber to sign into and out of each stage. Walking bits in between stages. The course is beautiful, stunning trails of Sheffield. I certainly enjoyed the race despite it being the hardest thing I have ever done. The medal is fab!
Things that could be improved- there are only two fed stations adequately filled. But in the middle of summer you need your own water supplies I wouldn't rely on these alone. The bar and food at the end had long queues at them so wasn't tempted to get anything at the end. And finally the entry process!!! I was ready at the time to book my place. The website crashed, crashed again and then the entry process turned into a ballot. Didn't think it was fair you could group entries together. I didn't actually get into the race through the ballot. I seemed to be the only one at the club who hadn't! Thankfully managed to get a transfer before the deadline.

This was my first RSR attempt.
It is a great event.
However, some of the parts of the race were on a narrow path, especially, the Beauchief part, you had to run on the side of the hill. Didn't appreciate club runners pushing past. One of my friends was knocked over.
