This was an excellent event at Fermyn Woods in Corby. The race started as a mass start at 9am. Runners and walkers were able to complete as many 3.5 mile laps as they wished. The route was mostly shaded, apart from the approach and lead away from the start/finish line, which was...

This was an excellent event at Fermyn Woods in Corby. The race started as a mass start at 9am. Runners and walkers were able to complete as many 3.5 mile laps as they wished. The route was mostly shaded, apart from the approach and lead away from the start/finish line, which was perfect given the warm weather. We were able to leave our bags at the aid station/race HQ and use them as drop bags as we wished. The course was scenic and well signposted. During the first few laps and later laps, there were marshals on the course, which added to the brilliance of the event's organisation. The parking was easy, aid stations were excellent and on site cafe was great too. There were plenty of spectator walks and opportunities to see runners, as well as a play area and the aforementioned café. The public transport links were very few and far between, but runners being friendly as they are, are always happy to help one another out with lifts to and from the train station/town centre etc. This was another superb event by Big Bear Events on company.

Good route, especially in the hot weather as there are a lot of shaded parts under trees. These would help protect from bad weather too. You need to keep your eyes peeled on the first couple of laps to make sure you don't miss the turnings. My Garmin recorded under marathon dista...

Good route, especially in the hot weather as there are a lot of shaded parts under trees. These would help protect from bad weather too. You need to keep your eyes peeled on the first couple of laps to make sure you don't miss the turnings. My Garmin recorded under marathon distance but I'm sure I didn't miss any turns out, so I think the tree cover may have affected it The course was dry but not rock hard, I'm guessing it could be quite muddy in places in bad weather. Nice to have a mini lap to add to 7 laps for a marathon distance, rather than having to do another full lap. Liked that I could donate to Trees-not-tees and thus still get my bottle of beer, flapjack and medal at the end. Good facilities (toilets, cafe) near the start/finish of the lap.

Another absolutely wonderful Big Bear event in a breathtakingly beautiful location. The course was well thought out to make it a hilly challenge without being overly brutal so that great pleasure and satisfaction could be got from running it without it feeling to be a slog at any point. Once again, Ann and Dave ran a fantastic aid station to keep us well fed and watered on a hot day! Nick the photographer took his usual awesome photos and made them all available free of charge. And the usual Big Bear warm, friendly family atmosphere prevailed! Nothing whatsoever to improve upon...

Big Bear events at its best ! The changes made to create a covid secure race work perfectly, from the online race briefing, the staggered starts to the individually wrapped goodies at the very well stocked aid station. Running loops never feels like running loops at a Big bear event as every loop is different from the last. It was really nice to be running round a new venue, Fermyn woods is particularly pretty this time of year. The course is mainly woodland trail but was not water logged which was great given all the rain we've had. All in all another brilliant day out, thanks Big Bear

Had a fantastic time at the Red Kite Challenge. Friendly welcome, easy registration, beautiful course, red kites in the sky, and even blue sky and sunshine. What more could you ask for?! A fantastic event in all apsects. I will be back next year for sure!
