This is an iconic course to race given the Brownlees' 2012 Olympic heroics and as such does attract a big field and a lot of newbies - which is a good thing. (On your right!!)

Positives - good pre-race comms from organisers, iconic course, great location, really well marshalled, amazing support (even in the torrential rain on Sunday and you're racing (almost) the same course as the elites.

Negatives - not great value for money for the entry fee compared to other events, long way between registration and transition (and yes I know that was done on purpose to make everyone walk through the "sponsors village") and poor quality aid stations/finish line feed.

I did this race because I wanted to tick it off before the move to Leeds - in hindsight I'm glad that I did, I loved the course and the atmosphere but I think that the organisers could have provided better value for money for the entry fee. My tip (which is irrelevant as it's moving to Leeds) would be to allow lots of time to get to/from registration and to the swim start as you have to cross the course to do both.

Bring on Leeds.

This race is a great atmosphere with plenty of triathlon 'newbies' - over 7,000 athletes over the course of three days makes for an exciting buzz.

The course is fast and pretty much flat but the tight turns and congestion on the bike course probably doesn't lend itself to a PB.

Race 'perks' could be better. A £90 entry fee gets you a medal and a drawstring bag, but small elements of the race seem poor in comparison to others. For example, the refreshments at the finish consist only of water in plastic cups, orange segments and chopped bananas. There is no podium or awards for any age group podium positions (even local races offer trophies/prizes/medals etc). No aid stations on the bike course at all and only two aid stations on the run in close proximity to each other.

It's the last time the race will be held in Hyde Park anyway but the likelihood is that the same format will be carried over to Leeds, unless they introduce some improvement (which, in my opinion, are required).

Not the easiest logistically to get to (unless you are based in London) and it's a shame it didn't receive the public traction it deserved. Otherwise was a fun day out. Bring on Leeds!

Competing in the world championships was a unique experience as there were so many talented athletes and so many nationalities. My start wave was at 10.20 but the transition was only open between 6-6.30. That was quite inconvenient as it meant we had to hang around for 4 hours in the cold. The swim was cut short because apparently it was too cold. The water temperature was 15C so it was definitely not too cold....hence quite disappointing to have a shorter swim. The bike course was amazing! Great support in the park and closed roads all the way to Tower Bridge passing by the most beautiful landmarks in London! The course was quite technical and mostly flat. The run was inside the park and had the best support ever! So many people along the Serpentine cheering for everyone regardless of which country they came from! It was an unforgettable experience.

Busy race, well executed and very safely policed closed roads in London. Weather a bit unpredictable and transition area a bit slippery due to weather conditions but otherwise a great race.

Overall an amazing experience, considering the sheer volume of athletes going through that week (10k+) the organisation was immaculate. Few points: - Not sure why they cut the swim to 750m, the water was warmer than the outside temperature and it gave weaker swimmers a massive advantage. Heard rumours that they cut the swim due to miscalculating the heat times and wanted to make sure the course was clear for the pro race later in the afternoon. Hope that wasn't the case and it was due to health precautions, but even that was excessive. - The MOST amazing bike course. Racing through London's most famous landmarks with blocked traffic both ways on a sunny day was almost too good to be true. - Second lap signposts on the bike were confusing, I mistakenly went to transition and lost 3-4 minutes before I could get back on the course. - Support on the run was the best I've ever experienced.
