My second 10k was the most challenging race yet taking place on what was probably the hottest day of the year so far. Driving to the event it was already 26c. Taking place on a racing track (previously an airfield) there was little shade on offer. Luckily a local running shop had a stall at the race village and the best decision I made all day was to invest in a cap and pair of race sunglasses. 2 water stations and a wet sponge hand out were appreciated. I understand a number of people suffered in the heat but were well looked after. Maybe an earlier start would avoid the heat another year although I appreciate these conditions are few and far between. Generally a well organised and enjoyable event.
