Great atmosphere, lovely marshals, beautiful place. V friendly and helpful staff across the board. Suggestions would be 1. Please consider putting a Toilet out on the course. It’s a 4 -5 hour bike ride (for people like me) and if you want to encourage more female riders, there needs to be a portaloo out on the course. If you have your period / don’t want to hide in a hedge beside a busy road, then you are stuffed on this ride. 2. The water station on the bike ride could do with being better signed 3. The main road was far too busy for me, and the tarmac on that busy bit of road that you had to go up and down several times was pretty shoddy, so I ll not be doing this one again. But genuinely thank you to all the staff.

Thanks for the feedback Suzy. Yes we'll add a portaloo to the middle distance bike course next year.

Environmental... Race hats... Help try to lobby British triathlon to introduce a few standard colours so that people can then re use hats ats other events. Swim course. Probably worth considering tidal flow directions (including back eddy's) in the course planning. The anticlockwise loop was very tough. Clockwise would have abee fast but probably nicer on athletes (especially 70.3). The 70.3 swim course was particularly badly planned due to to the far buoy being placed right in an area of flow acceleration around the outcrop. Aid station on run at 2.5 km only had water when I got to it each time which was annoying after that climb.

Thanks for the feedback on the swim. Yes in hindsight we probably should have started the swim in the other direction. We did for the swim only events which did help. We're having a close look at how we can improve the swim course next year. Great suggestion re the swim hats. We do recycle any hats that people leave in transition.

We recommend you do a selfie-search of the photos which works much better than searching by bib number. Apologies that we send more reminders about the start time change for the some Standard competitors. I'll feed back to the swim team paddlers.

The event didn’t live up to my expectations and I’d love to see the event improve in some key areas. After competing in the event last year and having no complaints, I was quite disappointed with this years event. Whilst I really appreciate the help of the volunteers and people who give their time to run these events, the event was almost £100 to enter and what you got for that needed to be a lot better. The communication around the start being delayed was very poor. the swim course was then different to that on the race program (buoys were different colours) and the swim course was significantly longer than 1500m. The course was also changed half way through which was very confusing. Then the bike and run course were poorly signed, without studying the course/doing it last year I'd have really struggled - which I saw plenty of people do on course. The aid stations were poor with limited options and cups not being ready. Also I didn't get a t shirt either when I registered/finished which was disappointing. Like I said, I really do appreciate people that give their time for these events but if you're going to charge these prices, the event needs to be better. I was really thinking about doing the torquay triathlon on July 5th but after this event I think I'll give it a miss.

Unfortunately we can never guarantee an exact distance for a sea swim. Conditions vary and buoys can move. We would never normally change a swim course while an event is in progress but it became clear to the water safety team that many swimmers were not able to get round the far buoy due to the tidal conditions. The tide time for 2027 is a lot more favourable. We accept your point about the changed start time for the Standard. I guess we should know by now that sending an email and updating the race manual does not ensure information will get through. We'll also review course marking for next year although it is amazing how people, with their race heads on, can whizz past multiple huge arrows.

I enjoyed the event , the venue and landscapes, the vibes, as well as politeness and supportive staff. However, there are a few improvements I would suggest as I was quite disappointed: 1. Safety: it was not safe cycle on open streets with cars passing by or stopping in front of me, especially downhill. 2. Water pollution: due to closeness with some boats the water tasted oil 3. Cycling route: it was too hilly with many steep hills where myself and others had to get off the bicycle and push it. Only 1 refreshment station. 4. Running route: it was meant to be a 10k running but no chance to do so due to the steep hill, it was more an hiking that a run. I defo did not enjoy the run at all. 5. High sign up fees for not having much in return. It should be a sport event not a lucrative one. 6. I would suggest the organiser to fine participants who throw energy gels on streets, it was quite sad to see all that.

We're glad you enjoyed the event & thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately we can't do much about the Cornish hills although we are looking at a slightly flatter run route for next year without the steep ramp. Similarly it's not feasible to close the roads for the bike leg of this event as the local councils are not supportive of road closures. And the sunny weather brought out more motorists than usual. Have a look at our English Riviera Triathlon which is both much flatter & on a closed road bike town centre bike circuit.

Friendly and supportive staff. Very well organised. Swim: Not safe unless you’re a very strong swimmer. Currents very strong as clearly the wrong time of the day to host the swim. Many people dropped out. Bike: Good overall, small lanes at the end meant you could not pass even a car without going backwards, don’t recommend that. Run: Hard but super well supported and organised. Overall some very good and very bad parts of the event.

Yes unfortunately the tide & eddies made the middle distance swim very tough. The tide times fall better for 2027 and we'r also looking at ways to improve the swim course we set. With the benefit of hindsight we should have started the swim in the opposite direction as we did for the standalone swims later in the morning.

Great event - for my first triathlon It was a brilliant experience. The swim was absolutely brutal and the hills but that made it was it was ! I will look to race again in the future with sportiva. Only point I could pick out was that I didn’t see the aid station on the bike route (unless it was tucked away from the turn around) Marshalls were amazing and very helpful. Really enjoyed the banter from the Marshalls on the run route !

Second time completing this event for me and it seemed like things were missing. The swim organisation seemed to put a lot of people in trouble due to the currents. I understand this is out of your control but something to be aware of. The Marshalls around the course were great! Supportive and shouting out early which way to go which helps a lot. Little things to look at for me is the merch. Lots of events now are putting more into what you get from the event. I got no t shirt, the same swim cap as last year (not the zone 3 one) and the medals are fairly generic when compared to other, local tri events. There are not enough toilets, some at different areas of the course would be great, same as bins. Nowhere by the swims start to put any rubbish. All in all a really good day, super hard and demanding course. But I feel this event could be falling away from similar events close to the Devon/Cornwall area.

Thanks for your feedback and glad you enjoyed the event. Yes we know the swim was tough this year so looking at ways to improve it for next year. We're also looking closely at the other points you've highlighted.
