5 k run consists of 2 laps of a lumpy little course but very enjoyable on quiet country lanes. Bike course is 3 laps of mostly quiet country lanes. it is an undulating course with the highlight being climbing parbold hill 3 times.

the second run is exactly the same as the first run.

there is great support around the start finish line and as always the epic marshalls are very supportive.

for anyone who hasn't done an epic event get one booked they are great, really friendly, really relaxed a pleasure to do.

This was my second time at this event and it was even better this year.

There's a great atmosphere here from the get go. The shared knowledge of a tough day ahead has the athletes smiling nervously at each other and giving reassuring words of encouragement.

The first run is 'undulating' and really gets the hearts and lungs working. After the second 2.5k lap I ran into transition and quickly got bike ready. Now this would be my only complaint with this event: transition is incedibly tight and the bikes are racked very closely. This means extra care is needed not to knock over other competitors' bikes.

The infamous bike leg sees three ascents of Parbold hill which just saps the legs of energy as you spin to the top. Once over the top though the rest of the route is easy enough and the drop down Hunter's hill past, or into, transition is brilliantly fast.

The last run leg is a repeat of the first. This is great because you know exactly what to expect and best to pace yourself.

A great event and well organised. Roll on next year!
