What an amazing 10k event from start to finish. The atmosphere was incredible, helped hugely by the music and entertainment along the sidelines which kept runners and spectators energised throughout the course. A particular highlight was the warm-up led by David Lloyds, which the Bicester School students absolutely loved, it really set the tone for an exciting and inclusive event.
The logistics of the event were clearly very carefully planned. From the placement of facilities and support stations to the overall flow of runners and spectators, everything felt thoughtfully organised and easy to navigate. The organisation throughout the day was superb, and the event organisers deserve enormous credit for delivering such a professional and welcoming experience.
The course itself is fantastic. Running through the streets and iconic sites of Oxford makes this a truly aspirational event and gives it a unique character that stands out from many other races. It is both scenic and inspiring, creating an experience that feels special whether you are an experienced runner or taking part for the first time. I have had such positive feedback!
As the event continues to grow, one area that could be developed further is the management of runner pens and timings. It may be worth looking at how events such as the Oxford Half organise wave starts and pacing to help improve runner flow and overall experience as participation increases.
Overall, this was a brilliantly delivered event with an outstanding atmosphere, a memorable course, and exceptional organisation. A huge congratulations to everyone involved.
