· 2018 Marathon ·

Race took place at Oulton Park race circuit. Registration was simple enough. There were hot food/drink facilities available and post/pre-race massage - all very welcome. Race had all distances ranging from 5k to Marathon, so catered for all abilities. Marathon was 10x 2.6mile laps of the race track. Route was run on smooth but it did have a couple of hills to tackle on each lap. Nothing too major but you could feel it, especially in the latter stages. There was a bit of a slope on one of the corners, which was a testing on the legs. There was excellent support at the end of each lap but on course it was a bit lonely at times. Marshals were encouraging & friendly and there was a bit of LIVE music to entertain the runners. Aid stations were at the start of each lap and they contained bottled water and energy gels. Finishers received a decent medal, quality tech shirt, flapjack, banana ect. Another bonus from this race was the FREE photographs - always very welcome. In summary - Enjoyable day. Well organised, good value, friendly event. Free photos are excellent news. I'll certainly be back to do this race again.

2nd participation of a RunThrough event and really enjoyed the event. Registration was straight forward, there was a lack of information sent out until the week before the event, but the email contained all info needed. Easy to navigate round on the day, plenty of parking, enthusiastic marshalls and everything well sign posted. Half Marathon consisted of 5 laps round the track. A great location to run round, the uniqueness of running on the race circuit really does add to the event. Each lap contains a couple of hills, which get more and more challenging the more laps you complete. Water/gel stations available on the home straight each lap. A good quality tshirt & medal at the end of the race too.

Good points- one of the uks best motor racing circuits so really good to run round. Organisation on the day, parking, and marshalls were excellent. Staggering of the distances start times meant there was no big rush to leave at the end. Negatives- 5 laps wasn't a major problem but the big hill gets a bit tiresome (it's a very undulating course!), the hairpin was quite cambered which made for some discomfort each lap, there wasn't an awful lot of support, but this is down to it being a reasonably small event (the 4 distances in total had a combined 800 entrants max). The gels provided at the aid station were not to my taste. Well worth entering, especially if you like motor racing (and hills!)
