A great race - weather conditions made it harder than it might be- very windy. More undulating than I though especially in the first half. Medal was a bit underwhelming. I do really like the t shirt though. Would recommend this race as part of marathon training. ...

The first year for this event, and I think it has some real potential to be an amazing race. The route itself was much more challenging than i realised, and is morw undulating than i anticipated. The route in spots had large puddles and was very muddy which cannot be helped. We had a lot of rain the night before which made navigating muddy sections tricky. That being said, the amount of times we came to complete standstills because people were too afraid to run through a bit f water was ridiculous. The section near the end where it was a two way system was fairly tricky. It was very muddy and some runners seemed to feel they owned the rights to the entire path and did not view it as a shared space. This was my most disliked part of the route because I am in general not a fan of that section on a good day, but found it difficult to wrap my head around it. I think more sineage in the parking lot would be helpful. The route was .2 miles short according to my watch and considering how much we dodged around i was a bit surprised. Some of the paths had a lot of pot holes and some signs warning of these would help with safety. A few more marshalls enroute would be good two especially on two way sections to ensure runner safety would be good. What did i love about this race... the views. Running in the countryside was amazing and i absolutely loved exploring parts of Nottinghamshire I had never seen before. While the wind was brutal at points, the scenery really made up for it. One of the real highlights was the support enroute, including the family with the adorable puppies and the family handing out water as we ran through the farm road. They were absolutely brilliant! I really would be up for more races like this that take you out into the countryside. I think there is a real market for it in the area and I’m not aware of many other races like it in Nottinghamshire. The race and medal were of good quality (especially the top). I think the race was really good value for money and I would recommend it to anybody. It is a tricky route but it is beautiful in the countryside. Overall I really enjoyed the day, and I am really hope these organisers take on more races. I think they have real potential.

I believe this was the first 20 mile event staged at this location at the National Watersports centre . On arrival at the event car park I had to download an app to pay £2.00 for the day which I thought was good value . There was no signage in the car park directing runners to the start which would have been helpful so I followed the crowd. The course itself was run on closed country roads in the main and paths. The heavy rain the day before meant there were large puddles to negotiate at some points . From about 6 - 10 miles the course in undulating before running past the watersports centre into Nottingham city centre mainly along the path at the side of the river Trent . At this point runners in front of me were running back towards the finish on the same narrow muddy paths as myself which did not really cause any problems . At the finish which was also the start, the inflatable arch which was there earlier had been removed which made it difficult to see where the actual finish line was . There were high winds on the day so I dont know if it had been taken down for safety reasons. Most other runners including myself had the distance of the course slightly shorter than 20 miles. In all I enjoyed the race and the course itself was good to run on .

Hi David, thank you for your valuable feedback. The course was officially measured, so I am not sure why this came up short. Yes you are correct, mile markers and the gantry just had to been taken down as the wind was making the situation very dangerous. We have certainly taken note of your comments and really glad that you enjoyed the event. Best wishes, Julie

A nice run but some narrow paths at times with runners going both ways
