I absolutely loved the event. Every single person assisting clapped and gave words of encouragement around the route. That really helped a lot, and I loved the way the guys waiting to re-open the roads were shouting at us too! Even the police officers on hand were joining in. A...

I absolutely loved the event. Every single person assisting clapped and gave words of encouragement around the route. That really helped a lot, and I loved the way the guys waiting to re-open the roads were shouting at us too! Even the police officers on hand were joining in. Amazing, all those that sang to us as well did a great job. There was one or two places that the marking on the floor weren't clear but the marshals were on hand to point the way. On the whole the course was well marked and the pre-race instructions were very clear. Wasn't sure where to collect T-Shirt and Medal as I didn't come through the finish line, but got them after milling around in the crowd a bit. I would like give Simon and his team a massive thank you for creating an event that had such an enormous sense of community, I was not expecting that. Loved it. Well done to everyone for making a great day for everyone taking part.

Improvements... Registration: I advised that I was registering for the relay and was told to wait at the head of the queue for the 'relay person' to become available... other relay teams didn't do this and just went to the next available desk and were then diverted to queue at t...

Registration: I advised that I was registering for the relay and was told to wait at the head of the queue for the 'relay person' to become available... other relay teams didn't do this and just went to the next available desk and were then diverted to queue at the 'relay person'. If I didn't just go in and queue I would've been there all day... How about having a RELAY board above her so that the confusion could be reduced... Course: Abington Park. Could have done with a marshal at the start of the lake loop. I'm sure that some runners must have gone straight on instead of turning left. After the finish: Log jam of runners after turning left immediately after the finish, (race time approx. 2:05:00), didn't move for several minutes. Why? Baton: Race briefing/instructions stated that there would be fine if the baton was not returned. But returned to where exactly? No guidance after the event. I left the baton with the timing guy at the finish gazebo. I hope that you got it!!! The Event: 'Chums on the Run' had a great day, we thoroughly enjoyed the day and the route. Well done. I'm sure that any feedback will be acted upon and we all look forward to the event in 2024. Thank you...

Hi Ashton we can improve on the points you have raised. We are considering a relay supervisor so that they can look after that aspect of the race. Next year we are in the market square so this will alleviate the congestion at the finish. Glad you and the chums enjoyed the event

I did the relay race- The event pack collection wasn’t very helpful being the day before because we needed to get numbers to team members. Please think about posting this next time? The info for this race wasn’t very clear about where each leg should start etc. next time I would suggest you get the different runners to start at their start so they don’t have a walk to get to their start, then have to walk back to the finish again after running. The course at the start was extremely difficult to navigate as it was so congested. I would suggest next year maybe allowing the relay runners to go before the main race. And/ or I would suggest doing the start of the race in “waves”. Which is how the other Northampton run is coordinated. So the runners put themselves in approx race times on their registration and are given a wave number. Then you call the wave number and have a small gap in between them- this would help the course and allow runners to actually run and the course follow better. It doesn’t matter in the detail of the wave or time anyway as the chip starts when you cross the start line anyway but at least allows spacing between groups.

Hi Ashleigh we did lost clear information on the website with maps for each leg and routes too and from the changeover points. we are planning to stagger the start so there is more room in the first mile or so

My friends and I took parts in the relay which was great. The course was good, organisation good too although there wasn't anyone on hand to give advice at the start. It is a good idea to have a route to get to the relay start points but it might be better to use a free app so runners can use it and not have to start a free trial to be able to use the app. I used Google map on my phone to find my way to the relay point. The relay part of the day wasn't mentioned in the pre run briefing, it would be helpful to have more information about how to get to the relay point as it felt like we had to fend for ourselves. Other than that, it was a good experience and enjoyable run.

A strange element to it was the stretch between the back of Carlsberg to the low bridge near Sixfields reservoir. The path too narrow so early on in the race while we were all bunched up together, and that bridge was like a springboard.

Hi Adam we are reviewing the situation as the bridge becomes a springboard with lots of people on it (something you don't find out on your own). We will use the inlet path next year. The path is narrow but thats urban running for you when there is only one way to where you need to go! Hope to see you next year
