One of the most scenic running events in the UK, the route takes in a working Fish Quay, the River Tyne, Tynemouth Priory and Castle, and a long stretch of coastline before finishing at St. Mary's Lighthouse in Whitley Bay. The event is organised by North Tyneside Council and is supported by Bernicia Homes, Start Fitness and Clearly Drinks. Last year's winning times were 33m 12s (male) and 37m 12s (female). The overall course record stands at 30m 26s. The event uses chip timing and participants will receive their result by text message. Video clips will also be available. Runners will receive a goody bag with race t-shirt at the finish line.
