Great race. Fairly tough course but last couple of miles a bit easier.

I did need to find race information before going which wasnt really a problem (and understand the lack of mail to keep costs/environmental pressures down) but an email from the race organisers (as opposed to just the booking site) following entry perhaps wouldnt have gone amiss. That said, race information could quite easily be found via the booking site, to be fair.

I wasn't local but thought the registration process was straightforward and was made to feel welcome by staff and marshalls. Course was well marshalled and they all worked hard in the cold to maintain consistent alerts around danger areas. Which there were a lot of due to a particularly chilly evening the night before.

Price was very reasonable and provided a decent challenge especially at this time of year and I would definitely consider running this again.

First time at this friendly, small scale (entry limit 500) multi-terrain trail event at ApeDale Community Country Park in Newcastle under Lyme, North Staffs and it didn't disappoint. Entry fee less than £15. Plenty of car parking, toilets (no showers), a bag drop and reasonably priced cafe at the start/finish. Hills aplenty, including one to start and finish, lots of mud and ice too this year as there had been a heavy frost the night before all added to the enjoyment. Very well-signed route with plenty of friendly, encouraging marshalls who did an excellent job of warning runners of particularly icy patches on the course. Far reaching views across North Staffs/Cheshire from the high points of the course. No water station on the course, but a medal, free water and KitKat at the finish. Will definitely be back.

First time doing this 10k trail. 

Cheap to sign up and you can transfer number on the day of the race. 

Course is trail with mud and gravel. Lots of ups and downs...about 700 feet gain. Navigation is easy as it' a fully marked route with marshals everywhere! It' not chipped timed but the race time corresponded to my watch time. 

Cafe at the start/finish.

You get Aynsley pottery on finishing, a mars bar and water. No water on the course. For under £10 it' A bargain!
