This is one of the most stunning races I've run yet. The location within Grizedale Forest sets a stage for a race on fire access roads, muddy trails and paths through open moorland.
To say it undulates would be insignificant, you are up and down like a rollercoaster, but you wouldn't want it any other way.
Incredible views at every turn, even with the low cloud cover, I spent as much time taking photos as I was running-I must stop doing this!
Marshal cover was present, but limited. We passed a marshal at mile 4, feed station at about mile 9 and the photographer somewhere between the feedstation and the finish! I think 2 to 3 more posts are necessary.
The feedstation wasn't brilliant, by the time we arrived (last position) there wasn't much on offer, good job I was carrying enough of my own supplies.
What did I love about this race? The location and it was way-marked! What didn't I like? The medal-its too small! A minor criticism for an amazing race, but ace bling matters!
I'll be back to race another Montane Trail event, probably Howgills for a contrast in scenery.

A great marathon. My second time and although hard for me as one of the older, slower runners, the support from the organisers and marshals is brilliant. I particularly liked that the marshals lined up at the end to welcome home the slower finishers.

What a fantastic race from beginning to end. Tough on the climbs but rewarded with the scenery and time for recovery on the downhills. Will definitely recommend to like minded people!

Great race, well organised detailed course notes emailed with updates as required, brilliant you tube recon vid, plenty of well organised marshalled parking with simple to find site directions. Straightforward simple registration and friendly but practical race briefing. Great course with views over lake Coniston and old man behind snow covered peaks. Good variety of terrain from well established forest tracks to brilliantly interesting undulating fell routes. Only improvement would potentially be an additional food stop around 6miles but the one at 10 was well provisioned even for the later arrivals with cakes sweets healthy options and even soft drink. Brilliant day, brilliant route, brilliant people. I'll be back "put that cookie down, NOW!!"

Really good race, well organised, easy to park and nice cafe for before and after albeit a little expensive. I did the half marathon and it is my first trail event and it is a good starter as it is not overly technical lots of fire roads and tracks but off road stuff as well and plenty of hills. Really good. I think the second half (for the full marathon) is a lot tougher...maybe next year. Thanks all for a great day!
