I did the HM route through the forest - it was stunning!! Organisation was really great, free t-shirt and great medal at the end. The aid stations were well-stocked and well-placed, marshalls were all lovely, very friendly. The route was fab - took you through lots of different parts of Delamere, the terrain and views were always changing which kept it interesting. Very easy forest tracks underfoot - would definitely love to do this race again!

Delamere is quite close to home and the forest itself seems to be 4 different forests in one.
Well signed, and marshalled the run was enjoyable. Except for that massive hill at the end. Could have done without that.

Delamere is a great place to run so this event was a no brainer for the price.
Parking was a nightmare to the point that the race 13 was delayed by 30 mins. Other issue which wasn’t aware of was the unmanned baggage tent but quick trip back to the car and problem solved.
route was ace, well marshalled and feeding stations were well stocked. Cheeky climb at the end. Would do again

This is the first time I have run this event and it didn't disappoint.
Registration: easy online sign up, good communication before the event, race number & timing chip pick up is on the day, hassle free.
Parking: You need to print of a parking permit pre race, display in vehicle. I arrived early and found parking to be hassle free, although later I believe it was an issue which caused the start of the race to be delayed 20mins, no problem really.
Race briefing: The pre race briefing was very good, not so long you began to tune out (it happens) but long enough to give all the relevant information.
Route: This is a fabulous route around Delamere forest, the weather in the preceding days made certain sections a little tricky under foot, but this is a proper trail route in a stunning surrounding and has real natural beauty. If you love running trails, you'll certainly enjoy this.
Feed stations: I found these to be more than adequate, offering water, cola, sweets & flapjacks there was certainly enough to fuel your run, and a good quantity to supply all runners.
Marshals: All marshals were helpful and friendly, a credit to themselves and the organisers.
An extra special mention to the two ladies at the feed station around mile 10, the organisers will surely know who they are, they were magnificent.
Overall I have only good things to say about this race, for reasons I needn't go into it wasn't my best day (nothing to do with the event/organisation I'd like to add)
I'll certainly be back next year, Montane Trail 13 and I have some unfinished business :)

I absolutely loved this race last year. But Delamere Forest never lets me down with it's thoroughly enjoyable routes. I did the 10km and will be doing it again this year. Not quite plucked up the courage for the HM yet - maybe next year. And don't forget that good old Pale Heights is included in both routes

An enjoyable race with a very big hill near the end. I had to walk up some of it!
The race bling was ok but I wasn't a fan of the tshirt. The route was marked out well enough although there is not much on course support.
A race I would do again.

This was a very nice HM route around Delamere forest. Underfoot it is mainly compacted trail, so very nice to run on. There are a few more off-trail sections which are slightly muddier and uneven.
Registration process was simple and easy. Given the nature of the course, there is little support, until near the end. The route is fairly well sign posted and there are a few marshalls dotted around at key points. There are a couple of points when the HM/10k cross that I feel could have been clearer, but it didn't really impact on running.
The course is undulating with one longer climb up to the top of Old Pale (views up there are great though!).
I prefer t-shirts over medals and I have to admit, I was disappointed with the quality of the race shirt. Given that it was sponsored by Montane, I had some expectation that they may have been the manufacturer, instead it was a cheap feeling Fruit of the Loom one.
Overall though, the race is very pleasnat with a few challenging hill sections. Its a race I would have no problem doing again.
