This was the 3rd year in a row of doing this event and it didn’t quite live up to the standards of the previous 2 years, however it is still a good race.

The race info was sent out and was detailed as ever but there had been a change in parking and there was now a payment required at the site and there was no mention of this. I wasn’t the only person trying to find the payment for the machine and trying to do it on my phone!

Registration was easy and goody bag given out. A nice T-Shirt but in previous years there had been some goodies like gels and food samples but none this year.

Transition and race briefing were good as always and we were kept well informed of a shortened swim due to the weather. Swimmers were counted into and out the water for safety which was a nice touch. The bike was super cold, but the course was marked well, however there were not as many marshals as previous years. I didn’t mind as knew the course but some of the sections in the housing estate may have been tricky if you were new to the route. The run is twice around the lake and easy to follow, however the aid station was poor. It had been moved from previous years to the transition area. There was nobody on it, so it was a help yourself. This isn’t great as I didn’t want to stop to get water so went without. I know it’s hard to get marshals but would have been nice.

Upon finishing there was a few sweets at the end and we were given our medals. The medal is nice but in previous year the lanyard has been branded and has the race name and year, however this year it was a plain pink one (that could have been got from amazon) and was a little disappointed.

Overall, a good race, especially for a first timer as its small and generally well organised but didn’t live up to the previous standards of the past 2 years.

This was my second time participating in the monster mojito triathlon and it is a great event. I entered it originally due to the value for money, as one of the best priced standard distance races around. It is however very well organised event with a great out and back swim course which is great for beginners as avoids too much contact with other swimmers. The run course is also lovely and scenic.

I do like to see mile markers though so that could be an idea for next year.

I think a new photographer is needed next year though. No photos on bike or run course and the swim exit and finish photos aren't great! Some people have 5 photos, some 1 and some none(me!!). I would probably of bought some photos if I was actually in one!!

This was my first triathlon and overall it was a good experience. However, I lost nearly an hour on the bike due to punctures. This was perhaps due to naivety on my part in not carrying a kit, but I am confident I'm not the only one to take that risk. The reason I lost so much time was a lack of spare tubes carried by the marshalls. It took 3 stops (pumping up the punctured tube each time) before I found one who fortunately did have a spare tube. I think the event could be improved by marshalls carrying more spare tubes and pumps, as I was not the only one to have bad luck on the bike.

This was my 1St tri event and it was brilliant. It wasn't to large so I didn't feel over welmed and found the lay out very simple to understand. Everyone was really friendly and more than happy to help. It's great to have the mojo going at the same time as you can see the swim happen 1St and then feel involved with some brilliant athletes on the bike and run.

I would recommend this event to any new starter. It is relaxed, easy layed out but still very professional and you do feel like a pro with all the support and race officials :) Maybe one thing that would be cool to add for race assessment would be how many places you gained and lost during each activity but it's not that important when your there having fun :)

Many thanks for the day

Ben

Everything about this race was great except the swim. Lake too shallow or sludge too high to be able to swim properly.

The lake for the swim was horrible - very shallow and thick water like swimming in soup, and also very weedy which gets tangled in your hands a feet. The cycle was nice - quite technical going out of town so not too quick, but after the first few miles it was pretty fast. The run route was lovel - really nice path round the lake. Could have done with another aid station rather than 1 every 5k, and thfough I did the Olympic I would have been happy doing 4 laps of the route for the Middle. Well taken care of at the finish and good support, albeit just once on each lap (to be expected with smaller events). Overall enjoyed it as a nice route and accurate distances and would return, despite the swim!

A well organised event with plenty of marshalls to help at all key areas/points.  The bike and run courses were excellent, well signed and clear to follow.

only things I would criticise would be:

1. the amount of weed in the lake, you were dragging it up as you swam, and got it all in your face etc as you went along!

2. The medal has no reference on it to what event it was, where or when - this should be included as they are hard earnt and you feel proud to receive it, but if you go back to look at it in the future you would not know where it came from! (I know it is on the ribbon, i would like to see it on the actual medal please!)

My wife came and spectated and thought the layout was excellent as she could easily see me exit the water, in transition, leave and return on the bike then see me several times on the run and at the finish.

i would definiely consider doing more Monster events in the future!

This was my first Triathlon organised by 'Monster'. I entered a run last year with them, and was so impressed I signed up for two races with them this year.

Generally i would say it was a positive experience. All of the build up was managed well. The location was easy to find, and there was a good level of information provided beforehand.

I thought the venue was good, with easy access and plenty of parking.

I thought the route marking was good through all 3 disciplines, and the marshalls were all friendly.

The run course was Awesome! Probably the nicest i have run, with a good mix of terrain surrounding the rowing lake.

Areas for improvement:

- The swim wasn't nice because of all the 'weed' in the rowing lake. Whilst the shallow lake meant it was warm, and good for beginner swimmers, the pond weed made it a tricky and smelly swim.

- Personally, I thought the roads in some areas of the bike course were in poor condition (not just because of the rain. Over night) to ride a TT bike, particularly the 'farm track'. If that had been called out before i probably would have brought my road bike

- If would have been nice to have two aid stations on the run as it got warmer later on.

-Transition could have been clearer, with better markings for race numbers to find your section

Apart from that a really fun race and glad i entered!
