What a fantastic race. Very well organised with all finishers receiving a t-shirt and a massive Christmas pudding- not to mention a mince pie and mulled wine! The course itself changed for this year and it was great. Some tough climbs but plenty of fast downhill sections to make ...

What a fantastic race. Very well organised with all finishers receiving a t-shirt and a massive Christmas pudding- not to mention a mince pie and mulled wine! The course itself changed for this year and it was great. Some tough climbs but plenty of fast downhill sections to make up for them. The race is great value and lots of larger race organisers could learn lots from it. I will certainly be booking for next year.

A super little race. Organised by the local running club now on its 32nd year and this was the biggest ever with 1200 spaces sold. Race packs were sent out a couple of weeks before the day and transfers could be made up until 3 days before. The Course itself is a tough undula...

A super little race. Organised by the local running club now on its 32nd year and this was the biggest ever with 1200 spaces sold. Race packs were sent out a couple of weeks before the day and transfers could be made up until 3 days before. The Course itself is a tough undulating trail style course. After the 1st couple of Kilometres around an industrial estate the course goes through Shipley Park and around the grounds of the old American Adventure theme park grounds. Look out for "Missile Hill" in the last couple of Kilometres it's also know locally as suicide hill it really is brutal. There was one water station at the half way point that had water in plastic cups. As it is classed as a Christmas run and sponsored by the local makers of Christmas puddings there is no medal for the race but you are sent away with a pudding that serves 8 Technical Tee Shirt and a bottle of water at the end. There are photographers at the end of the course and all photos are free to download. All in all this is a great 10k that is excellent value for money.

Lovely event, very well organised by Heanor Running Club with a new route for 2018. Easy to register and numbers and pre-race information received a week before. Undulating route which starts off with a couple of km around the local industrial estate, but is soon in to the pict...

Lovely event, very well organised by Heanor Running Club with a new route for 2018. Easy to register and numbers and pre-race information received a week before. Undulating route which starts off with a couple of km around the local industrial estate, but is soon in to the picturesque Shipley Country Park. The route is pretty undulating, with a couple of steep sections, but that just adds to the character of the route. As many marshals as I think I've ever seen on a 10k route, with all friendly and supportive throughout. As you might expect in a race sponsored by a Christmas pudding company, finishers received a pudding along with their very nice T shirt. A gripe, albeit a very minor one, is the absence of a medal, but that didn't detract too much from the overall experience. In short, a thoroughly recommended event.
