Although it attracts a large field, it is a local race, so you really have to carry your own water, have a plan for where you will meet people and manage your own parking, changing etc.

The Positives A organised great town to run 5 miles around, all the volunteers were a credit to the race, all of them were smiling, cheering, positive and supportive. It's also great that so many people come to watch on the high street and the cheering from locals in the last half mile is such a boost. Wonderful medal What could have been better More prominent distance markers More water at the end of the race Urinal type toilets for the men, you had these before, would reduce the demand for single portaloo toilets. Date clash with Pub in the Park, did spoil the race village atmosphere this year.

Lovely town to run 5 miles around. Every single volunteer was a credit to the race, all of them were smiling, cheering, positive and supportive. It's also great that so many people come to watch on the high street and the cheering from locals in the last half mile is such a boost. Not fussed about the goodie bag, a medal is enough for me. Agree that the water station after the race was not sufficient but easily fixed for next year.

I have no issue with trying to be eco-friendly but when that comes at the expense of no water being available at the end of the race, it's going too far, especially on a hot day. Bottles of water should always be available - even if as a back-up should the jugs & cups run out. A...
I have no issue with trying to be eco-friendly but when that comes at the expense of no water being available at the end of the race, it's going too far, especially on a hot day. Bottles of water should always be available - even if as a back-up should the jugs & cups run out. Also missed having a T-shirt which always used to be part of the finish line 'goodies'. Other than that it's a great event, excellent route, very good marshalling and, until this year's run, it's been faultless in every way!

I really enjoyed taking part in the 40th race, for the first time. Collecting my bib etc was all very smooth, and the medal at the end was lovely. The only downside was not enough water at the end, even though I’d brought my own water bottle to refill.

Previous member of Handy Cross Runners and it was lovely to be back from Wales to run the event which has changed slightly since I ran it last but was extremely well organised

Great race, not many 5 mile races out there and this one is well established and very well run and organised. I took my 15 year old Daughter with me this time as she is now old enough to take part making it the perfect first race for her as the distance was about perfect. The only downside was the decision not to give a t shirt this year or any extras, just a medal. The medal was good quality but seemed a bit poor and a shame for my daughter as she has seen me wearing my older Marlow 5 T shirts and was looking forward to getting one for herself.
