3rd year (first year doing a 2.5k swim & Aquabike) and the support staff were outstanding. Especial call out for James at the campsite entrance who was very welcoming & remembered me from last year and for Colm on kayak support who watched me the whole distance on the 2.5km swim ...

3rd year (first year doing a 2.5k swim & Aquabike) and the support staff were outstanding. Especial call out for James at the campsite entrance who was very welcoming & remembered me from last year and for Colm on kayak support who watched me the whole distance on the 2.5km swim to be sure I didn't go astray (or sink!). Yes organisation is superb and atmosphere is great, but it is the support staff that make it. If I was to be picky, after the aquabike I had to sheepishly tap someone on the shoulder up at the run finish to get a medal and she looked as surprised by me asking for one as I was at having to walk there (this in no way detracted from the weekend but might help you to change the Aquabike finish format going fwd).

Hi There first time to compete in a Aquabike event and first time at Lough Cutra Castle. The event was fine and race was enjoyable , great bike route and scenic swim. The only thing i would like to point out is the Finish (or lack of) for the Aquabike. the dismount line was barely visible at the end of the cycle. I am doing Tri 20 years and i ended up overshooting the dismount line (my fault). Maybe some more notification or more vocal marshals to tell finishers of the Aquabike thats the dismount line is the actual finish.

First time aquabiker. Had heatstroke 1/4 way into the swim because of heat in wetsuit. Water was 17 degrees and temp 23 degrees. From what I have read, wetsuits are optional at that heat and not recommended. As a newbie, this information was not available, and I struggled through...

First time aquabiker. Had heatstroke 1/4 way into the swim because of heat in wetsuit. Water was 17 degrees and temp 23 degrees. From what I have read, wetsuits are optional at that heat and not recommended. As a newbie, this information was not available, and I struggled through the rest of my race, ruining my day. Otherwise, a lovely place and nice people overall.

Hi Fred, I am sorry to hear that this was your experience. Wetsuits were actually mandatory at this event after a ruling by Triathlon Ireland. Really enjoyable event and very well organised. Some clearer information about the exit for the transition to bike out is needed, i.e. whether you had to loop around the next lane of racks or sun straight out. Also the marshals in transition were unclear as to where people were to exit if they wanted to finish the event with the run to the finish line. The mount line for the bike could also do with being further up the hill. It was my first multisport event and it was difficult to start cycling on a steep incline while trying to clip in. I noticed others were also struggling, it wasn't an ideal start to the cycle. Cycle course was quite rough surface in parts also. Signs in Gort town to the car park entrance would also be helpful. Overall a great event and I will be back!

First multisport event, seriously impressed by organisation. I've been on organising committees for simpler events in the past and can only imagine the logistics required to run off so many events seamlessly this weekend. The weather was a major bonus as was the water temperature. No issue with road surface, as rural Irish roads go, it was top quality! A few more buoys for the swim would have been helpful but this could be due to my lack of familiarity with open water swims. Overall, a very pleasant experience, a credit to organisers and volunteers

As always well organised. Parts of the cycle course were extremely challenging and poor quality service. Hard to avoid pot holes at pace. Marshall at end of the bike told me I was done, but apparently I needed to cross the bike in timing mat. I was told before the race that the...

As always well organised. Parts of the cycle course were extremely challenging and poor quality service. Hard to avoid pot holes at pace. Marshall at end of the bike told me I was done, but apparently I needed to cross the bike in timing mat. I was told before the race that the timing mat was out at the gate. To be fair they did look into and were right when they said that my time would not have changed the standings which is fair enough. But overall a great event. My 3rd year doing it. First time camping. Very enjoyable and I am sure I will be back doing it again.

Generally an enjoyable event but the surface for the bike ride was very poor. Lot of potholes and gravel and a very bumpy ride. Required a lot of swerving obstacles. There were bottles and bottle cages littering the course from cyclists bouncing along the road.
