Challenge London have ruined what used to be a perfectly good (albeit never brilliant) triathlon. A bit like when Sports Direct buys up good brands (Karrimor etc.) and runs them into the ground.

Terrible organisation on the day and poor set up for the number of people there. The start time was delayed by 90mins, so everyone was just stood waiting around in their wetsuits! No explanation given and bike route changed as a result - 3 laps of a shorter course rather than 2 of the original longer course. It was then a different distance. Also meant that it was very crowded with little opportunity to overtake. Over 1km total distance for transitions alone! The results for everyone delayed were not given in full (no split times). I really regret doing this event instead of a different one - strongly advise you to book an alternative. I will definitely not be attending this one again, despite it being 20 mins from my house!

Did the Middle Distance. Terrible event overall with awful, unsafe logistics and too many people. Unsafe bike course with the usual potholes, combined with thousands of athletes of different distances being on the very tight course at the same time, making conditions appalling. No enforcement of the no-draft policy, meaning the rules meant nothing. Most marshals and event staff had no clue about anything. The flow of people throughout the venue was badly managed - you could have easily walked out of transition without a bike that wasn't yours. I signed up to qualify for one of the slots for the Challenge Championship - I qualified (top 4 in AG) but haven't received my slot. No one from Challenge London nor Challenge Family is replying to my emails. Money down the drain and will not do a Challenge race nor this specific London one again.

Frankly embarrassing organisation from Challenge London. Late starts, no times or tracking, thefts, and no responses to queries and complaints after the event. Also can't help but notice that the website had this review feature baked-in up until the day of the event, but then it disappeared straight after the event so that people couldn't give their honest opinions on what a disaster it was. Shameless really.

This was honestly an abysmal experience. No race results published for two weeks after the event - apparently an issue (after tonnes of participants) which meant that tracking was broken. My partner and mates missed me compete as a result. I basically had to tell Challenge London my finish time which they included in the final result - no splits, so no ability to check my performance against previous years. Staff seemed totally uninterested - both the ones dealing with my complaint post event and those stewarding on the day. Give this one a miss! Money down the pan.

Really big lack of toilets. Having to walk to the other side of the hall for massively queued toilets during transition was poor for an event like this. However besides that the event was good good energy

This was my first triathlon so there isn't much to compare it to however I loved: a) being able to rack my bike the day before (one less thing to worry about on the day) b) swimming in the Thames and cycling down the Embankment c) the atmosphere in the ExCeL d) living in London, getting there was a doddle but I hated: a) many times the cycling path became really narrow and quite treacherous (especially as faster cyclists were behind me) b) that running route is so dull. You're in London don't make us run through a boring section three (yes 3!) times, especially with a large sodding ramp at the end of each one. Can't we extend the route and go somewhere interesting in Docklands and avoid running back towards the ExCeL?

First time doing an Olympic triathlon and I was really looking forward to taking part in this event. Having read the other comments, I am in complete agreement with everything that has been said on this thread. Positives: - The Vibe on the day - Swim well laid out (Water quality poor though) - Medal was ok, not great Negatives: -Unbelievably busy -Lack of knowledgable staff, who all point you to information. Therefore the queue is gigantic -Cycling course is boring until Westminster, and extremely flat. (not to mention SHORT by a good 5km 👀👀) - The Run. Crowded, narrow & monotonous. - The transitions are MENTAL. Taking your wetsuit off, putting in a bag and then queuing to go upstairs is certainly a new experience. - Putting Elite Athletes last is MENTAL. They catch up immediately and you’ll go to bed at night hearing “RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT” as they boom past you. The worst of all though is if you are in the 10am group (Mass start), they openly mention they close the road to Westminster at between 11am-11:30am, meaning you have to be rapid in the water to have any chance of getting to complete the full cycle. All in all, a bit of a shambles by a reputable company, and you’re going to bed wondering if that 5km+ short cycle really means you completed an Olympic Tri 😑

Great event loved every minute. We did the team Olympic Tri. I did the bike stage and throughly enjoyed it. Already entered next year's. A big thanks go to the all the team behind the organisation of this event.

What could’ve been an exciting day turned out to be very disappointing. I recommend skipping this one and going for Dorney Lake instead. — very delayed start — I went for the super sprint, and the organization made us wait for about one hour after the time we were supposed to started. — wet and slippery floors and stairs — After the swimming, we had to climb a big flight of stairs on our bare feet wet, and the stairs were also wet and very slippery. After that we had to talk about two or 300 m in the transition area also with the floor, wet and very slippery, which was really dangerous everyone was complaining. — Dozens of people missing their results — The organization failed to publish the results for dozens of participants. We complained on Twitter, but got no response from the organization.
