The course was quite nice in parts where there was a seaview. The customer service and technical administration is poor. Firstly, I had transferred from the cancelled 2021 event by clicking the link provided in an email and was advised the transfer was successful, but it turns out I had not been registered for the race. It was stressful dealing with customer service to try to ensure that I was able to run the race; no explanation or apology was given. As a result of not being registered I received no - pre-race emails or information. The organisers from whom I picked up my goody bag and race number were friendly and helpful however. Secondly, my boyfriend also ran the race but his time was not recorded in the results even though he had run over the pads as required. Customer service again was pretty poor, with no explanation given. He was advised after a few days that his times had been found but as yet they are still not showing in the results.

There’s also a kids race on the Saturday & a Wine Run on the Tuesday if you want to make a week of it. This has been our annual holiday for years now & Paphos is beautiful and so relaxing. Definitely worth a look.

A very scenic course from Aphrodites Rock along the coast into Pafos. The weather in 2022 was as the organisers said ‘the worst they ever had’ rain, hail, heavy wind, it had it all. One concern was running along dual carriageways for most of the marathon. Not any support until the last 3km. Overall a good race for beginners and fairly flat. Potential PB and trophy is likely given the numbers who attend

Unless you knew the area it didn’t supply a map to get to registration which was hard to after flying for 4 hrs to Cyprus. The buses to the start were prompt and the start was at a historical point in Cyprus which was nice. They were still putting the start gantry up when we arrived. There were a few portaloo but no other facilities such as refreshments. Bag drop was seamless you gave it to a van with your number and collected it at the finish. The route wasn’t hugely supported but where it was, the crowd were great. For a road marathon it was good , it went thru nature reserves, along side the sea, thru farms and down streets. The only section which wasn’t great was the up and down section to and from the airport which seemed to go on forever. There were a few water stops which had portaloo which is always useful. The finish was at the fort and port and the crowds were good. There were chairs to sit on which is always nice. Free beer and water and a massage if you were willing to queue. It was nice to hang around the fort as there were lots of restaurants and bars so the atmosphere was great.

The trophies are amazing too 😀 Started and finished in the harbour which is stunning but the course along the dual carriageways wasn't very pretty. Would I do it again, definitely already looking at next year!

This race was really good. I did the half marathon & on arrival it was 100% clear where the start was with a real party atmosphere & music. The start of the race was on time & the first few miles along the coast were beautiful, the crowd support here was great. As we got onto the road sections on a long out & back I must admit it was a little boring in that section. There’s nothing to see & no crowd support. I’d suggest installing some cheering sections in future editions of the event to liven up the atmosphere here. The route was really easy to follow though, well marshalled, plenty of water stations & was such a well organised event. The finish at Paphos Castle is brilliant the atmosphere here was electric & music was playing & it was an iconic big finish. The medal was amazing, all events got the same medal but a different colour to denote distance. Free beer at the end was a great touch. Bag storage by the way was slick & efficient storing the official race bag in vehicles that were driven down to the start/finish for the purpose of storage. These were manned & secure. Loss of toilets available

What’s not to love about Cyprus? One of my favourite destunations, so when the marathon was mentioned by Racecheck, I jumped at the chance to run here. Booking the race was easily done and plenty of social media updates leading up to it. Some of our friends coming along weren’t flying in until Saturday afternoon, so as long as we had a copy of their race number allocation email and a print out of their passport, we were allowed to collect their race bibs for them. Collection was easy and in the harbour near the castle (where the 5k, 10k & HM start). Easily done and well organised collection, most of the volunteers there are British, so no issues with language barriers. The packs contained your bib with GPS tracking, we had a visor, HM had turkish delights and some biofreeze as well as the usual advertising leaflets. Race day. For us marathon runners, 3 coaches were put on at 6:10am, 6:15am & 6:20am to pick us up from Paphos Harbour and drop us to Aphrodites rock where the marathon starts. The start of the race was being set up when we arrived, so plenty of time to get some pics of the scenery while we waited. I didnt use the bag drop but you have to use the allocated bags given to you at bib collection. Very few portaloos at the start line.... if i did it again id take my chance having a wee in the forest as the toilets were gross (yes, portaloos are not the best on any race day but when you are physically retching to the point of being sick. Its no fun but gave eveyone queuing a laugh as they could all hear me trying not to bring my porridge back up!). The start is 3-4kms of uphill and the rest of the race has gradients, so its by no means flat but no big hills. Its not all coastline either, the out and back 7km loop to the airport and back to the main road is a low point but give us a chance to see the marathon frontrunners. Be prepared for lots of secrions with headwind, between that and the heat I found some points quite hard. Not all of the roads are closed either, so some of it you do have to run in the verge of the road due to the traffic and some crazy cypriot drivers! Loads of water stations on route and they all had wet sponges (which were much needed). Some with gels too. The Biofreeze roundabout around mile 22 I think was much needed. Two lovely volunteers were slapping biofreeze up my legs for me. Theres not many spectators on route so as long as you dont mind a quiet race, you’re ok. The spectators appear on the last two miles where you start to run down the main road past all the hotels. Thank you to the lady handing out olive branches to us all on that last mile too. The harbour is then full of peoole cheering you into the finish line. Plenty of oranges and FREE beer as you cross the line. Nice medals and a good atmosphere at the end. A good experience and always lush to meet up with the visorclub peeps, some I hadn’t met before.

I cannot rate this race highly enough! It was a fantastically organised event, in a stunning location and unbelievable value for money. Arguably, the only thing letting the marathon down is the lack of support along the course, but this is more than compensated by the views of the coastline. It felt as the organisers had thought of everything - coaches to the start, content of the goody bag, quantity and quality of the merchandise (t-shirt, visor, medal), frequency and variety of the aid stations, post-race festivities... food, massage, free beer!! I would 100% recommend this marathon to anyone, in fact, it's convinced me to never run a marathon in the UK again.

Cyprus Marathon in Paphos was both unforgettable and special, and just superb! With all the improvements that have been done (new route, music at the start, at the finish and on the course, time mats on the start), with the 5k wine run, which was so bright and beautiful and very nicely organized! Well done all the marchals and organising committee! This year the were more runners, more music, more fun! Despite the wind, despite the rain before the wine run, everybody was so happy! Thank you for doing what you're doing for us, it's so nice to see this event grow and blossom!
