This is the second time I participate to this eventand have to say that I liked it even more than last year, and this despite the puddles being twice if not three times deeper! It is hard both climbing up 6.5 miles in sticky and slippery mud and puddles that look like lakes (but there was always a side option in the woods where the puddles were substituted by roots and narrow lane), and running then down the 6.5 miles. But the course is wild, and it feels lovely to reach the top of the hill and view all around. A very friendly environment: competitors, marshalls and Race Director , all really super nice! After the race we got a great long sleeve T-shirt, mug, medal, and ...full English Breakfast! The race HQ is also very wellcoming, with changing rooms, showers, enough toilets, and warm. A lovely event! I could not hear anything that race director said in the race briefing, but the course was clear and well indicated. An event/race to do!!

My favoutire half marathon by far.  Beautiful but challenging countryside, great support and a cooked breakfast.

Puddles, mud, hills, beautiful views, friendly runners, comedy, pain, post race fry up and swimming pool, mug, t-shirt. What's not to like! Great race and great fun. Also make sure to turn up early to watch the UK Wife Carrying Championships too.

A superb day out to witness one the annual wackiness races of the year - the UK wife carrying event followed by the challenging Leith Hill half - start at the bottom of the hill Dorking and make your way through to Surrey's highest viewpoint via some the most dramatic scenary you are likely to see across the UK. The view at the top was simply stunning and made the 6.5 first leg worthwhile to be greeting by the best marshals to encourage all the runners out and back - you got this in the bag, put the hammer down , looking good number 19 !! Brilliant - keep this up

This was my first time running this event and I absolutely loved it. The logistics were easy as we drove from London and parked at the school which is also the race HQ. The race start was at 11 and we arrived at 9.45 to ensure we found parking and there were still a few spaces left at that time.

Picking up our number was easy and quick and everyone manning the reg desks were very friendly. There was free tea and coffee for everyone and tables scattered round to get your stuff ready and have a rest before the start.

The start was about 10minutes late and it was disappointing that we couldn't hear the race birefing. People were talking but also the megaphone wasn't really effective. So definitely a point for the organisers to note. The race is an out and back almost all uphill for the first half and then as you would expect almost downhill for the second. It was super muddy as it had been raining in the past few days but I had Saucony Peregrines on and was perfectly fine. The course is beautiful and only has very few tarmac parts. Right before the end you have to go up a super steep hill with steps but are then rewarded with a downhill finish! I didn't really use the aid stations as had a hydration pack on but there were a few scattered around.

At the end we got a lovely medal, a long sleeve race technical Tshirt with all our names at the back and a mug. Make sure you go into the cafeteria to pick up your Tshirt and mug. Showers in the school were also available to use if you brought your own toiletries and towels. There was also free cooked breakfast for everyone. Maybe one of the most generous races I have ever done.

In summary this is a challenging but very enjoyable race. I would certainly recommend it.

So...okay I'm not designed to be a fell-runner, however for a first time on a very hilly course this was a tough challenge. Hats off to all the organisers and martials who make it such a great event. If you love getting down and dirty in primordial mud and wet puddles - this is for you. Whoever designed the course and put that 'orrible' ascent of the Nower at the end again - you are a sado! LOL  : )

The sixth time time I have done this event and still my favourite. Supportive and friendly feel to the whole thing.  Definitely the toughest this year. Muddier, wetter and hillier (well it felt hillier anyway!). That storm just before the event started was ominous, but it cleared away due to some sort of divine intervention! Really enjoyed it.

A big thank you to Rob and all the Marshalls.

Such a good race. Not for the faint hearted - it is a very hard course. But it is beautiful, varied and a great challenge. Organisation was brill, facilities at the school were perfect and the goodies were great - we got a running tshirt (long sleeved) with our names on, a cup, a solid medal, free breakfast, and use of the swimming pool! I only have two small gripes - the website isn't great and feels outdated and the unnecessary use of plastic cutlery and cups in the cafeteria (but I imagine this is down to some to some restrictions from the school). But overall this is an epic run, and definitely my proudest running achievement yet. Thanks to everyone who made it happen!

It was my first half marathon ever, I came especially from Belgium for it.   Looking back to it, it was the best event I have done so far.  It all starts on a big field, running uphill for about 7 miles, ... but downhill backwards so it is rewarding as you know its going to go all downhill. I will definitely run this course again, hopefully 2021. I would encourage runners to participate if you feel able to run a half without any problems and feel you need a challenge if february weather condtiions.... It is not an easy course but definitely a rewarding one. The views, the hills, the tower waiting half-way through the course, as the turning point, especially the cheering crowds, crossing some little villages,  it is indeed a great event!. I would not recommend it if you feel not in good shape. There were about 250 participants, and most do have great skills but offcourse there are some starters etc,   The atmosphere is kind of electric as the runners that are already running downhill, when you are still going uphill, do cheer you up.
There are a lof of mud puddles, a lot of off-road, so can be messy depending on the weather... that makes it great! It is a fun run but tough.  So just, before registering, remember that the event slogan is : though enough?
