I ran this race on a free place as a video creator to make a race video which is available here. https://youtu.be/mzN749vZKf8 This is a no frills race but it’s a really bargain price at £12-£15 It’s 10 miles not 10K, starts at a school with the sports hall for baggage (dry) & toilets. The race briefing over megaphone wasn’t very loud, most people were talking over it, maybe some better speakers so all can hear. It’s 10 miles in quiet rural country lanes with good signage, easy to follow, good aid stations for drinks & good marshals. There’s no road closures but I probably saw 10 cars if that & Marshall’s were on the crossings of more major roads managing traffic. No closed roads = cheaper entry. There’s no medal = cheaper entry There is a decent technical finishers t shirt. This is why I said it’s no frills it’s a race, that’s dirt cheap in comparison to others but you don’t get all the bells & whistles of a big city event. It’s an undulating route so train for hills.

An absolutely brilliant run. It’s a club run so not much support from the locals but lots of marshalls and amazing support from them. This is my second time at this event and it’s now officially my favourite. It really has a mixture of everything

Brilliant event. My 5th year and it never disappoints, even with the horrible torrential rain this year. Bargain price, amazing marshals, great hq, fab atmosphere, fantastic route which is challenging but not too hard and a lovely fast finish. My only gripe is it’s not chip timed and as it’s getting busier this might be a way forward (I would happily pay a few extra quid for this as it’s so cheap anyway!) But that’s a minor thing on an otherwise perfect race.

Leighton 10 Most importantly – this race is 10 MILES not KILOMETRES. Every year this catches someone out! This race used to be called the Tough 10 but think it put a lot of people off so now just the Leighton 10 with a nice course profile beneath. I’ve run this race twice, most recently in 2018 and I have to say it’s my sort of race. Staged by a local club, reasonably priced, staffed by keen volunteers. No faff, long queues or overpriced photo packages. You get a great race and a technical tee, then you go home. Start venue is a local school with a decent amount of parking. Registration and bag drop in a big hall with plenty of toilets and changing rooms so you’re not freezing your bum off outside queuing for portaloos. The route is an undulating 10 mile route on road, some closed, some open to traffic but all well marshalled. Only one of the hills at the end of mile 9 is significant enough to elicit swear words from the runners, the rest is more manageable. As with any course how challenging you find it depends on where your normally train. Live in the Lake Districts and this course would be flat, come from Norfolk and you’d probably want to bring climbing gear. There’s water stops at around mile 3 and 7 so plenty for the length of course. Most of the route is along country lanes so on a typical crisp Autumn morning is gorgeous. This year it rained solidly so the view was dampened a little but still a great race. I’d recommend this race to anyone wanting a quick leg stretch prior to Autumn marathon or just a decent local race.

This was my first time doing this event and with all things considered thought it was ran superbly. Plenty of Marshall’s in the right places ensure runners were safe on open roads and that directions were obvious. The torrential rain didn’t stop a good turn out and it was quite a nice change to the heat we had seen over the summer races. Thanks all involved!

This was my first time running 10 miles. I loved every second. The views were absolutely gorgeous, the trees were amazing and the sense of peace was wonderful for me. I'm not very fast (11-12m mile) so for a lot of it I was alone. It was a lovely experience and the marshalls went above and beyond to encourage everyone. They really boosted me when I was struggling and were just brilliant. I will be back next year to hopefully run it all. The hills were a challenge but no pain no gain and all that! Loved it and would highly recommend.
